Jindal to steer product strategy, manufacturing expansion and localisation
MUMBAI: The board of directors of JSW MG Motor India has appointed Parth Jindal as chairman of the company with immediate effect.
Jindal has served on the board of JSW MG Motor India since the formation of the joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor. He has been closely involved in shaping the company’s product strategy, manufacturing expansion and localisation programme.
Jindal currently serves as managing director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, chairman of JSW Dulux and a director on the board of JSW Energy. He is also the founder of JSW Sports and chairman and co-owner of the Delhi Capitals.
The appointment comes as JSW MG Motor India continues to expand its presence in India’s rapidly evolving automotive market, with a focus on electric mobility, technology and greater local manufacturing.
The joint venture combines JSW Group’s understanding of the Indian market with SAIC Motor’s global automotive expertise. It is focused on sustainable mobility, advanced technology, localisation and customer experience, while expanding its product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities.
JSW MG Motor India is also building a local supply chain and investing in a broader mobility ecosystem as it looks to introduce globally available technologies and environmentally responsible solutions for Indian consumers.
The company has emerged as a major player in India’s electric vehicle market, having sold more than 1.5 lakh EVs since launching its first electric model. Its MG Windsor has also emerged as the country’s top-selling EV, according to the company.
Jindal’s expanded role comes at a significant point in the company’s growth journey, with the new chairman set to guide its next phase of product expansion, localisation and manufacturing growth in India.
