NEW DELHI: Paper by Kala has entered India’s personal care and wellness market with a range of products designed to make everyday routines a form of self-care for women.

Built around the philosophy ‘You belong to you, too’, the brand aims to help women carve out time for themselves without adding another activity to already busy schedules. It centres on familiar routines, particularly the daily shower, as opportunities to pause and reconnect with oneself.

The brand’s name draws a parallel between paper and the many roles women navigate. While paper may appear fragile, it is adaptable and resilient. This idea underpins the brand’s philosophy, ‘For Everything You Carry’.

“When we started thinking about Paper by Kala, one thing stood out. Women are constantly doing things for everyone around them, but rarely find the time to do something just for themselves,” said Paper by Kala co-founder and CEO Abhinit Gogia.

The idea, he added, was to make the seven to ten minutes women might already spend in the shower feel like time of their own, rather than introduce an elaborate self-care routine.

Paper by Kala has introduced two signature collections, VOID and STILL, each designed around a distinct experience.

VOID, positioned as ‘The Ritual of Release’, is intended to help users leave the pressures of the day behind. STILL, described as ‘The Ritual of Pause’, focuses on slowing down amid the demands of everyday life.

The portfolio includes body washes, balms and complementary face care products. Its formulations combine ingredients such as niacinamide, aloe vera, panthenol and botanical extracts, selected for their roles in supporting skin hydration and comfort.

The brand’s ingredient approach centres on Paper Fiber Actives™, which draws inspiration from the strength and adaptability of paper and combines plant-derived ingredients with skin-conditioning components.

“For us, the product experience was as important as the formulation itself,” said Paper by Kala co-founder and chief product officer Kusum Gogia. She said the company focused on the feel, texture and fragrance of its products to make personal care more enjoyable rather than another task to complete.

Alongside the launch, Paper by Kala plans to develop a community through ‘The First 100’, an initiative intended to bring together a founding group of women. Participants will receive early access to new products, take part in product trials and provide feedback to help shape future offerings.

The brand is also developing ALIVE, ‘The Ritual of Structure’, for launch in 2027. While VOID and STILL focus on release and pause, ALIVE is being built around bringing greater clarity and intention to the start of the day.

With its entry into the market, Paper by Kala is positioning itself around a broader view of personal care, combining skincare products with a message about making space for oneself in everyday life.
