NEW DELHI: Picture this: a smartphone brand and the world’s biggest creator platform walk into the same frame. The result is the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, a new initiative from OPPO India and Instagram aimed at helping India’s next generation of content creators sharpen their storytelling skills and grow their audiences.

Announced on Tuesday, the collaboration brings together OPPO’s imaging technology and Instagram’s content discovery ecosystem to create new opportunities for creators, particularly micro and nano influencers from regional markets. The programme is designed to support emerging talent through monthly creative challenges, content amplification, mentorship opportunities and professional certification.

India is home to Instagram’s largest creator community globally, making it a crucial market for the rapidly expanding creator economy. As mobile-first content creation continues to surge, both companies are betting that better tools, stronger visibility and structured learning can help creators turn passion projects into sustainable careers.

A key feature of the partnership is OPPO’s focus on imaging technology through its LUMO Image Engine. The company says users of its Find X series smartphones will be able to upload videos to Instagram with near-lossless quality, preserving details, colour accuracy and dynamic range more effectively from capture to publication.

Speaking about the initiative, OPPO India communications head Goldee Patnaik said the programme aligns with the company’s “Make Your Moment” philosophy and aims to put powerful storytelling tools in the hands of young creators across the country.

Meanwhile, OPPO India global imaging director Simon Liu said creators today play an important role in shaping culture, adding that OPPO’s imaging systems are designed to simplify content creation across a range of real-world shooting conditions.

For Meta, the partnership signals a deeper collaboration between social media platforms and smartphone makers. Meta technology vertical head Rishad Chindamada said creator partnerships have evolved into a business growth driver, with Instagram Reels serving as a platform where hardware innovation and everyday storytelling can intersect.

The programme will run as an always-on initiative, featuring monthly themed contests centred on youth culture, everyday experiences and local stories. Participants can submit entries on Instagram using designated campaign hashtags, with judging based on engagement, originality, creativity and cultural relevance.

Winning creators will receive rewards across gold, silver and bronze categories, including cash prizes, OPPO smartphones and IoT products. Successful participants will also gain access to masterclasses, mentorship sessions, on-ground experiences and a Meta-OPPO certification. Selected creators will be showcased across OPPO and Instagram channels, while standout entries could also receive international exposure through a global showcase programme.

To further support creators, OPPO is launching a vodcast series featuring industry voices such as Ankit Rihal, Simon Liu, Vikram Channa, Joseph Radhik, Tanya Khanijow and Kenny Sebastian. The series will explore creator challenges, emerging trends and practical strategies for growth in the digital content landscape.

With creator culture becoming increasingly central to online engagement and brand marketing, the OPPO LUMO Creator Program is positioning itself as more than a campaign. By combining technology, education and visibility, OPPO and Instagram are hoping to help India’s creators bring their stories into sharper focus, both on-screen and beyond.
