Onida opens SmartHub stores in Meerut and Tirupur
Consumer electronics brand targets 100 plus exclusive outlets in 12 to 18 months
MUMBAI: Onida is putting a new spin on the shop floor, expanding its retail footprint with new SmartHub exclusive outlets in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and Tirupur, Tamil Nadu.
The latest openings are part of Onida Electronics Ltd.’s wider retail push under its Onida Rewired transformation journey, with the company targeting more than 100 exclusive stores across India over the next 12 to 18 months. The expansion will focus on emerging urban centres as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, as Onida looks to take its products beyond the metros and closer to regional consumers.
At the centre of the rollout is the ONIDA SmartHub format, which brings the brand’s key categories under one roof, including LED TVs, air conditioners and washing machines. The stores are designed to give consumers a dedicated space to browse the portfolio and seek product assistance, while exclusive EMI schemes at the new outlets are intended to make purchases easier on the pocket.
The two new stores also underline the regional spread of the strategy. The Meerut SmartHub, operated by Royal Trading, covers 900 sq. ft. and is located at 390, Krishna Nagar, Roorkee Road, near Rapid Rail Pillar No. 1795, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
The Tirupur outlet, operated by RR Electronics, spans 500 sq. ft. and is located at No. 2, Velliyankadu Main Road, Santhapettai Bus Stop, near Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tirupur 641604. Both outlets will have dedicated Onida sales representatives working alongside the respective franchisee teams.
Gunjan Srivastava, CEO & MD, Onida Electronics Ltd., said the retail expansion forms an important part of the Onida Rewired journey, with the company seeking to strengthen its presence beyond the metros. He said the Meerut and Tirupur launches reflect its focus on markets with strong consumer potential and its plan to establish 100 plus exclusive retail stores over the next 12 to 18 months.
Farooq Baig, Chief Business Officer, Onida Electronics Ltd., said expanding across diverse markets requires alignment between product development, market insights and operational execution. He added that the company is focusing on regional consumer requirements, sharper category offerings and stronger in-market availability as it scales the SmartHub network.
For Onida, the retail expansion comes as consumer buying journeys increasingly stretch beyond the traditional metro markets. By bringing televisions, air conditioners and washing machines into dedicated brand outlets, the company is looking to make its portfolio more accessible while giving its regional retail network a more contemporary format.
With Meerut and Tirupur marking the latest additions, Onida’s SmartHub rollout is now geared towards its larger target of 100 plus exclusive stores across India over the next 12 to 18 months.
