Omnicom Media India tops RECMA rankings in India
The network is also number one in Asia Pacific and remains the best-performing global media group, with three of India’s six highest-ranked agencies
MUMBAI: Number one in India. Number one in Asia Pacific. Number one in North America, EMEA and LATAM. Omnicom Media has swept the latest RECMA Network Diagnostics report, and its India arm sits at the top of the table, ahead of all competing agency networks. The announcement was made from Mumbai on 5 November 2026.
RECMA (Research Company Evaluating the Media Agency Industry) has named Omnicom Media India number one among media agency groups in India, reinforcing the network’s competitive strength and performance in one of the world’s most dynamic media markets. Combined with number one rankings across Asia Pacific, North America, EMEA and LATAM, these achievements led Omnicom Media to retain its ranking as the best-performing global media group for the second consecutive report.
The report further underscores the network’s agency strength. Three of the six highest-ranked media agencies in India belong to the network: PHD, Initiative and OMD, with Lodestar UM achieving a Good rating. PHD and OMD recorded the highest Vitality scores in the agency rankings, while PHD led the market in year-on-year client portfolio growth.
The regional picture is just as strong. In Asia Pacific, Omnicom Media agencies OMD and PHD ranked number one and number three respectively, and both also rank in the top five for vitality and structure. This marks OMD’s third consecutive RECMA Network Diagnostics report at the top spot in Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia, reinforcing three years of regional growth and leadership. OMD also leads the region with a 10.2 per cent qualitative share.
RECMA itself does not hold back. As it notes in its report, Omnicom Media “is emerging as the new industry powerhouse”. The network is the leader in activity volume and billings with approximately 30 per cent industry share, and also leads this Diagnostic Report with just under 35 per cent of quali-share.
The weight of the ranking comes from the report behind it. Widely considered the most comprehensive report for analysing media agency performance, the bi-annual RECMA Diagnostics report is based on the evaluation of approximately 700 agencies in 45 markets. Using 19 KPIs to evaluate vitality and structure, it offers an assessment index that goes beyond typical quantitative metrics such as new business wins or billings volume alone. It also considers criteria such as client portfolio and relationship stability, digital, data and content resources, and homogeneity across geographies.
The ranking lands amid a winning streak. In October alone, Omnicom Media won the media business for The Coca-Cola Company in North America, grocery retailer Lidl across Europe, the global assignment for Lavazza coffee and Lufthansa Group, The British Council, and the L’Oréal business in the DACH region. Adding this 30-day sprint to a 2026 global and regional win record that already included Adidas, Aviva, CVS, Delta, Dyson, IBM, Novo Nordisk, Uber and Xiaomi brings Omnicom Media’s year-to-date total to more than $9 billion in billings won or retained through competitive pitches, more than any other holding company. In India, the new business wins include Netflix, AMFI, OpenAI, Adidas, Dr. Reddy’s, Xiaomi and Amazon Music.
Kartik Sharma, chief executive officer, Omnicom Media India, said: “Our ambition is to help clients turn the growing complexity of the Indian media landscape into a competitive advantage. That means bringing together the industry’s strongest talent, technology, data and commerce capabilities in a connected organisation that translates scale and intelligence into meaningful business growth. It is about enabling clients to make smarter decisions, move with greater agility and unlock opportunities that create lasting value for their businesses and brands. The RECMA recognition reflects the strength of this approach, the quality of our client partnerships and work, and the commitment of our people to continually raise the bar.”
RECMA also pointed to the benefit of Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG for the Omnicom Media agency portfolio. It notes: “all of the group’s agencies are benefiting from the advantages in this evaluation, particularly the integration of data and digital specialist units”.
For Omnicom Media India, the result is a rare double: the top spot in a market of fierce competition, backed by a stream of new business. For clients, it is a signal that the network’s talent, data and commerce capabilities are being recognised well beyond its own walls.
