BENGALURU: Oben Electric has shifted into top gear. The electric motorcycle maker has emerged as India’s No. 1 selling electric motorcycle brand after registering 1,417 electric motorcycles in September 2026, according to Vahan data.

The milestone also marks the company’s highest-ever monthly sales, driven by the market response to its Rorr Evo electric motorcycle.

Oben Electric said the performance reflects growing consumer interest in electric motorcycles designed around the experience of riding a motorcycle, rather than simply being positioned as an electric alternative.

The Rorr Evo has been developed with a focus on performance, design, technology, range and everyday usability. The company said the motorcycle is aimed both at consumers looking to shift to electric mobility and existing motorcycle riders evaluating it on the same attributes they consider when buying a conventional motorcycle.

The September performance marks an expansion of Oben Electric’s presence in the electric motorcycle market, with the company moving from an emerging manufacturer towards greater scale.

Oben Electric founder and CEO Madhumita Agrawal said the milestone validates the response to the Rorr Evo and the company’s approach to electric motorcycles.

“Becoming India’s No. 1 selling electric motorcycle brand is a significant milestone for Oben and a strong validation of the trust our customers are placing in us and in Rorr Evo. India is the world’s largest motorcycle market, and the transition to electric mobility cannot truly reach scale without electric motorcycles playing a central role,” Agrawal said.

She added that the company’s focus has been on making electric mobility relevant to the millions of riders who depend on motorcycles for their everyday journeys. According to Agrawal, the response to Rorr Evo indicates that riders are willing to adopt electric motorcycles when they meet their expectations as motorcycles.

The sales milestone comes alongside another manufacturing achievement for Oben Electric. The company recently rolled out its 10,000th electric motorcycle from its Bengaluru manufacturing facility as it scales production of the Rorr Evo and expands across markets.

Oben Electric attributes its growth to an R&D-driven and vertically integrated approach. The company develops and manufactures key EV technologies in-house, including LFP batteries, motors, vehicle control units, chargers and proprietary software.

The approach gives the company greater control across technology development, engineering, quality and manufacturing, while allowing it to develop products specifically for Indian riding conditions and customer requirements.

Oben Electric operates a 3.5-acre manufacturing facility in Bengaluru with an annual production capacity of 1 lakh motorcycles. Its R&D and manufacturing capabilities are based in India, supporting its plans to expand its domestic presence and pursue longer-term global ambitions.

The company is also expanding its customer support infrastructure. Its network now spans more than 150 showrooms and dedicated Oben Care service centres across more than 90 cities in 18 states, covering sales, test rides, deliveries and after-sales service.

With the Rorr Evo driving record sales and production scaling up, Oben Electric is looking to build further momentum in India’s expanding electric motorcycle market.
