Nimbus ropes in Kingfisher as Challenger Trophy sponsor

MUMBAI: Sports marketing firm Nimbus Sport has announced that it has signed on Kingfisher to be the title sponsor for the upcoming cricket event – Challenger Tophy. Zee Sports is broadcasting the series.
 
 
Nimbus Sport president Satish Menon says, “The tournament will be called the Kingfisher Challenger Series for NKP Salve Trophy. Good times are here again for Indian cricket with the return of Tendulkar and it is most appropriate to have Kingfisher as the title sponsor.” The event consists of 4 One Day matches, all day night, between 10 – 13 October 2005 at Mohali.
 
 
Nimbus Sport has also announced that this is the first time that any domestic Indian tournament has secured a global broadcast footprint. The event will be telecast in USA on Direct TV, in Canada on ATN, in UK and Europe on Zee TV and in the Middle East on Ten Sports. It is also to be streamed live on the internet through willow.tv and near live clips will be broadcast on mobile handsets in India.
 
 
Nimbus Sport in producing the event and will use super slow motion cameras, Alston Elliot graphics and EVS based replays.

The commentary team is Srinath, Arun Lal, L Sivaramakrishnan and Ayaz Memon. Sports Television VP James Rego says, “We are treating this as a full blown international series and viewers can expect international standard coverage.”

Exec takes charge of MX sales and marketing after Raju Pullan’s exit

NEW DELHI: Samsung India has elevated Aditya Babbar to lead its mobile phone business, following the exit of Raju Antony Pullan.

Babbar, who previously served as vice president within the mobile division, has been appointed head of sales and marketing for the MX (mobile experience) business, effective May 1. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s sales and marketing operations for smartphones and related categories in India, reporting to the executive vice president of the MX business.

A long-time Samsung executive, Babbar brings over a decade of experience within the organisation, having held multiple leadership roles across product, marketing and category management. Most recently, he led product marketing and e-commerce for the mobile division, following earlier stints as head of product and marketing and senior director roles.

His career within Samsung Electronics and its India operations has also included responsibilities for flagship devices, tablets and wearables, giving him a broad view of the company’s premium and mass-market portfolio.

Babbar succeeds Pullan, who stepped down from the role, marking a leadership transition at a time when India remains a key battleground for global smartphone makers.

The appointment signals continuity within Samsung’s leadership bench, with an internal candidate stepping up to steer one of its most critical business units in a highly competitive market.
