Two decades of art direction across Dentsu, K&L and AdGlobal360 land him a bigger canvas at Publicis Groupe’s PR and comms arm

Niladri Das has just traded two decades of agency floors for a considerably bigger stage. The creative director, whose career reads like a map of Delhi and Gurugram’s advertising scene, has joined MSL India, part of Publicis Groupe India, as group creative director. It is the kind of appointment that rewards patience: Das has spent close to twenty years building the craft credentials that make this move look less like luck and more like inevitability.

The path here was not a straight line, which is precisely what makes it interesting. Das started as a graphic designer at Rediffusion Y&R in Kolkata in 2005, moved through design associate work at Derek O’Brien & Associates, then spent four years at Dentsu rising from art director to creative supervisor. From there he climbed steadily through Concept Communication, K&L Communications, where he held the creative director (art) chair for six years, Arms Communications, Rediffusion Brand Solutions and AdGlobal360, before a nine month stretch as vice-president of creative and social at ARM Worldwide and a spell as an independent creative consultant. That is not a résumé built on one lucky break. It is a career built brick by brick, agency by agency, brief by brief.

What stands out is the breadth Das has accumulated along the way: digital strategy, page layout, direct marketing and social media sit alongside the more traditional art direction skills that anchored his early career. That combination matters more than it might have a decade ago. Group creative director roles inside PR and comms networks like MSL are no longer just about print layouts and campaign visuals; they demand fluency across digital-first storytelling, brand building and the kind of integrated thinking that clients now expect as standard rather than as a bonus.

Das himself struck an appropriately reflective note on the move, describing it as a new chapter and a bigger canvas, and admitting that every new beginning carries a mix of excitement, curiosity and possibility. It is a sentiment easy to dismiss as boilerplate, except that in his case the trajectory backs it up. Twenty years of climbing through some of Delhi’s most competitive creative shops is not nothing, and landing at a Publicis Groupe network on the back of it is a fair reward for the climb.

For MSL India, the hire adds a creative leader with genuine range at a moment when PR and communications agencies are under pressure to prove they can produce work as visually sharp as any traditional ad shop. For Das, it is the platform his career arc has clearly been building toward. Either way, this is a promotion worth flagging, not just another LinkedIn announcement lost in the scroll.
