Neeman’s appoints Deepu Virmani as chief product officer to drive Rs 1,000 crore goal
Virmani joins from Reliance Retail’s Trends Footwear as the brand expands products and categories
NEW DELHI: Neeman’s is putting its best foot forward on the product front. The comfort-focused footwear and lifestyle brand has appointed Deepu Virmani as chief product officer as it works towards its ambition of building a Rs 1,000 crore business over the next three years.
Virmani will lead Neeman’s end-to-end product strategy, covering design, sourcing and product development. He joins the company from Reliance Retail’s Trends Footwear, where he was vice president, sourcing and product development.
He brings more than 25 years of experience across the footwear and retail sectors. Before Trends Footwear, Virmani held senior roles at Bata India, Bharti Retail, Reliance Footprint and Mirza International, giving him experience across different stages of the footwear value chain.
Neeman’s co-founder and CEO Taran Chhabra said product would play an increasingly important role as the company expands, with Virmani’s category experience expected to strengthen its product portfolio and capabilities.
The appointment comes as Neeman’s accelerates its growth plans. The company said it generated around Rs 185 crore in the previous financial year and is on track to close the current financial year at Rs 350 crore. It is targeting Rs 1,000 crore in revenue over the next three years.
For Virmani, the focus will be on translating Neeman’s existing proposition around comfort and responsible materials into a broader and deeper product portfolio. He said the brand has an opportunity to combine a sharper understanding of consumers with stronger product and category capabilities as it expands.
Founded in 2018 by Taran Chhabra and Amar Preet Singh, Neeman’s has built its positioning around comfortable, functional and contemporary footwear for everyday use. The company has also incorporated materials such as merino wool and recycled PET into its products as part of its focus on more responsible materials.
The brand currently has an omnichannel presence spanning its website, 49 exclusive stores and major e-commerce platforms. Its portfolio covers lifestyle and casual footwear, with plans to expand across categories and markets.
With Virmani taking charge of product strategy, Neeman’s is looking to deepen its capabilities across design, sourcing and development while scaling its business beyond its current footwear base. The larger goal is to turn its comfort-led proposition into a wider lifestyle offering as it works towards the Rs 1,000 crore milestone.
