Myntra Jabong partners with Benetton Group to bring Sisley to India

The B2B franchise deal gives Benetton Group’s denim-rooted brand a ground-up playbook in one of the world’s most closely watched fashion markets

BENGALURU: Italian denim, meet Indian retail muscle. Myntra Jabong India Pvt. Ltd., the B2B wholesale arm of Myntra, has struck a strategic partnership with Benetton Group to bring Sisley into India, securing franchise rights for a brand that has quietly built over 400 points of sale across more than 40 countries since its 1968 debut in Paris.

The mechanics of the deal are fairly standard for how global fashion labels typically enter India: a master franchise agreement under which Myntra’s B2B entity, working through licensed franchisee partners, will roll out exclusive brand outlets and shop-in-shop formats across key Indian cities in the coming months. What makes the tie-up worth a second look is less the structure and more the positioning, Sisley is being pitched squarely at premium shoppers looking to elevate everyday style, trend-first fashion built around versatile, occasion-hopping wardrobes rather than a narrow niche.

Venu Nair, chief of strategic partnerships and omni-channel at Myntra, framed the deal as a natural extension of the company’s existing playbook in scaling international brands ground-up in India, calling Sisley’s accessible Italian style, anchored in fashionability and quality, a compelling proposition for Indian consumers building versatile wardrobes. Nicola Capone, CEO of distribution at Benetton Group, was similarly upbeat, describing India as a market with significant long-term potential and pointing to Myntra’s deep understanding of the domestic fashion landscape and omni-channel capabilities as the deciding factor behind the partnership.

There is a broader pattern at play here too. International fashion houses have increasingly turned to Indian e-commerce platforms with existing wholesale and franchise infrastructure rather than attempting solo market entry, and Myntra’s B2B arm has built a reasonably credible track record doing exactly this. For Sisley, tapping into that infrastructure offers a faster route to building brand awareness and distribution than negotiating standalone real estate and retail partnerships from scratch would allow.

Whether Sisley can carve out genuine differentiation in India’s increasingly crowded premium fashion segment, competing against a growing roster of international entrants all chasing the same urban, trend-conscious shopper, remains the open question. But as market-entry strategies go, partnering with an operator that already knows where the Indian consumer shops, and how, looks like a fairly sound first move.
