Moumita Majumdar joins Vivo India to lead Elite Community Marketing
After a year freelancing and a decade in PR, the comms veteran takes on an early-stage mandate to define elite community marketing at Vivo India
GURUGRAM: Moumita Majumdar has just done something rarer than a job change: she has walked into a role that does not yet fully exist and been trusted to define it. Majumdar joins Vivo India’s User Communications and Operations department to lead Elite Community Marketing, building what she calls the High-End Breakthrough Team from the ground up. Her mandate covers campus and university creator partnerships, creator recruitment pathways, and the incentive frameworks, training and on-ground execution that will shape how Vivo engages its most invested audiences. This is not an inherited playbook. It is a blank page, and Vivo has handed her the pen.
What makes this appointment worth watching is the eleven years that precede it. Majumdar built her career at the sharp end of reputation and narrative, starting as an account executive at Zeno Group under Edelman handling Levi’s, Nike and Netflix, before rising through account manager roles at Zeno and Ruder Finn, where she led mandates for Bumble, Disney+ Hotstar and Marico. From there she moved to Urban Company as associate manager for PR and corporate communications, leading communications across India, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Singapore for a business valued at more than $1bn, building a 3 lakh-plus LinkedIn community and cutting negative news coverage by 75 per cent through proactive crisis strategy.
Her next two roles were where she proved she could build brands from zero rather than simply maintain them. At 82°E, she repositioned the skincare label as a globally relevant premium brand, launching more than 12 products and two new categories in a single year while orchestrating culturally sharp brand moments around the Oscars and FIFA that delivered over 2,500 organic media mentions and 60 per cent Instagram growth. At IndoBevs, she took the brand from zero to one across 27 states, secured four international awards for its flagship product Bonga Bonga within the launch year, and grew digital reach by 50 per cent in six months through an organic, content-first LinkedIn strategy.
In between IndoBevs and Vivo sits a deliberate year off, which Majumdar spent as an independent consultant working with Urban Company again, alongside Meru Activs, All Things Fun, Gem Finesse and creative agency Adtomica, while also building a Formula 1 content channel on Instagram purely for the love of it. That combination, a decade of brand-building discipline paired with a year of genuine entrepreneurial freedom, is precisely the profile a company building a new function from scratch should want in the room.
The Vivo mandate marks a real departure from traditional PR and comms, leaning instead into community as brand currency and giving Majumdar a foothold in operations and business strategy for the first time. But the skills underneath are unmistakably the same ones she has spent eleven years sharpening: reading culture, building trust with the people who move it, and turning that trust into measurable growth. For Vivo, betting on someone with that track record to prototype high-end community engagement looks like a shrewd, low-risk way to build something genuinely new.
