Motorola Signature 27 debuts at Snapdragon Summit with next-gen AI features
New flagship pairs Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 with 200MP camera and B&O audio
MUMBAI: Motorola is putting its flagship ambitions in the fast lane, giving the motorola signature 27 its first public appearance at Snapdragon Summit as one of the world’s first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform.
The preview offers an early look at Motorola’s next ultra-premium smartphone, which combines next-generation performance and AI capabilities with a 200MP periscope camera, enhanced video stabilisation and an audio system developed with Bang & Olufsen.
At the heart of the motorola signature 27 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, which is designed to support advanced AI workloads, gaming, photography and next-generation 5G connectivity. Motorola says the device is built to maintain performance during demanding tasks through its new ArcticMesh cooling system.
The thermal setup combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh architecture and a redesigned 3D vapour chamber. The system is 40 per cent larger than the previous generation and is designed to manage heat during sustained AI workloads, gaming and video creation.
Motorola is also promising longer-term software support, with the smartphone set to receive seven years of OS upgrades.
The motorola signature 27 will bring a new set of AI experiences powered by Google Gemini. Motorola says the device will allow users to move beyond conventional assistant functions and use AI for creative tasks as well as everyday activities.
Gemini Omni will enable users to create and edit videos through natural-language conversations, while Gemini Lyria will generate original music and custom soundtracks.
Gemini is also designed to work across apps and services, allowing users to handle tasks such as planning outings, booking dinner, finding event tickets and managing everyday activities.
Connectivity gets an upgrade too, with next-generation 5G and six antennas designed to support faster connections and cloud-based AI experiences.
The camera system is another major focus of the new flagship.
The motorola signature 27 features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main camera alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. The setup is designed for detailed photography across everyday and long-range scenarios, including architecture and landscapes.
Motorola’s AI-powered Video Enhancement Engine adds another layer of computational photography. It analyses scenes before and during recording and adjusts colour tones to produce what the company describes as natural, true-to-life footage.
The system is paired with Qualcomm’s Electronic Image Stabilisation and 3.5 OIS hardware to make handheld video smoother, particularly while walking, panning or shooting in challenging conditions.
Audio is also getting a premium treatment. The motorola signature 27 is the first smartphone to feature Audio by B&O, following Motorola’s partnership with Bang & Olufsen.
The collaboration brings together Motorola’s smartphone technology with B&O’s expertise in sound, design and craftsmanship, with the companies targeting a more immersive audio experience.
Design follows the same premium brief. The smartphone uses ceramic and glass construction and will be offered in two finishes: PANTONE Capulet Olive, with a textile-inspired texture, and PANTONE Coal Smoke, featuring a Tactical Weave finish inspired by automotive materials.
The finishes are intended to combine tactile appeal with durability while continuing the design language introduced with Motorola’s signature family.
“The motorola signature 27 showcases Motorola’s vision for the future of premium smartphones, combining the industry’s most advanced mobile platform with breakthrough AI experiences, professional-grade imaging, iconic design, and immersive audio,” Motorola India managing director TM Narasimhan said.
Narasimhan added that the device, as one of the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 smartphones, represents a significant step for Motorola’s flagship portfolio.
The motorola signature 27 remains a preview for now, with Motorola expected to reveal further details, features and availability closer to its full launch.
