Metro Brands appoints Uttam Kumar as Chief Product Officer

MUMBAI: Metro Brands has just put its best foot forward in the product game. The leading Indian footwear retailer has appointed Uttam Kumar as its new chief product officer. With over two decades of experience across India and the APAC region, Kumar brings a strong track record in product strategy, merchandising, and retail transformation.
In his new role, he will lead the company’s overall product strategy and merchandising function, with a focus on strengthening portfolio relevance, enhancing speed-to-market, and building scalable capabilities to support profitable growth.

Prior to this, Kumar served as senior vice president for Product & Merchandising at Bata India, where he led enterprise-wide merchandising strategy and product roadmap. His career also includes leadership roles across APAC and Southeast Asia, with a focus on AI-led forecasting, digital product lifecycle management, and modern merchandising frameworks.
