Meta appoints Dhruv Vohra to lead Southeast Asia business strategy and growth
Vohra will oversee commercial operations across six markets, with a focus on AI
MUMBAI: Meta is making a move in Southeast Asia, with Dhruv Vohra taking charge as managing director, global business group, Southeast Asia, effective 30 September.
Vohra will oversee Meta’s commercial strategy across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, reporting to Benjamin Joe, vice president for Asia Pacific. His remit will include leading teams that work with advertisers and agencies across the region, helping businesses use AI and Meta’s family of apps to drive growth.
He will also focus on strengthening Meta’s partnerships across Southeast Asia, where the company sees growing opportunities around AI, messaging, e-commerce and digital business.
“Southeast Asia is one of Meta’s fastest-growing business regions, and the work ahead is helping businesses leverage AI and messaging at the pace their customers already expect,” said Meta vice president for Asia Pacific Benjamin Joe. “Dhruv has spent seven years close to those businesses, and he has built the teams that support millions of them. He is the right person for this next phase.”
Vohra joined Meta in 2019 as director for e-commerce and digital natives, working with businesses and platforms shaping the region’s digital commerce landscape.
He later took charge of small and medium business growth in Southeast Asia before expanding his responsibilities to lead Meta’s SMB group across Asia Pacific. His new role brings him back to Southeast Asia, where his Meta journey began.
His experience spans e-commerce, digital business and commercial leadership, with a focus on helping businesses navigate the region’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
Vohra has also built a public profile around the region’s digital transformation. He writes the LinkedIn newsletter Small to Scale: Inside APAC’s Innovative SMBs, which explores how small and medium businesses are changing the way they sell and grow.
He was also a key contributor to Meta’s SYNC Southeast Asia thought leadership series, which examined digital consumer behaviour and e-commerce trends across the region.
In his new role, Vohra will work with businesses of different sizes through Meta’s advertising and business ecosystem, with AI and messaging forming key parts of the company’s commercial agenda.
The appointment comes as Southeast Asian businesses increasingly operate across social platforms, messaging services and digital commerce channels. For Meta, the regional focus is on helping advertisers and agencies adapt to these changes while expanding the company’s relationships with businesses across the six markets.
Vohra’s combination of regional commercial experience and his earlier work with e-commerce and SMBs places him back at the centre of Meta’s Southeast Asian business, this time with responsibility for the wider commercial strategy across the region.
