Meghna Sharma named editor of Prestige India ahead of launch

APX Luxury picks a 16-year publishing veteran to build the brand’s eighth international edition from scratch, betting India is ready to define its own luxury voice

NEW DELHI: Launching a luxury title in India without an editor would be like opening a boutique without a buyer. APX Luxury, formerly BurdaLuxury, has closed that gap by naming Meghna Sharma as editor of Prestige India, handing her the job of building an editorial identity for a brand before a single Indian issue has hit the stands.

Sharma is no stranger to the terrain. Sixteen years in lifestyle and luxury publishing have taken her through The Times of India, L’Officiel India, Cosmopolitan India, Harper’s Bazaar, Brides Today, The Word Magazine and Manifest, a run that reads like a checklist of the titles that have shaped how urban India reads about fashion, culture and taste. That breadth matters here. Prestige is not a fashion glossy in the conventional sense; founded in 2000 and already running editions across Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Cambodia, it treats luxury as a lens on business, design, travel, art and society rather than a shopping list. Sharma’s own editorial instincts, sharpened across categories rather than confined to one, look built for exactly that mandate.

Annesha Sanyal, country director, India, sales and marketing at APX Luxury, is candid about why the timing matters. India, in her telling, is no longer a market that follows global luxury conversations; it is shaping them, across design, fashion, hospitality and culture. Prestige India, the brand’s eighth international edition, is a bet that this shift is real and durable enough to sustain a dedicated title. Sharma, for her part, frames the job in similarly ambitious terms: building an India-specific version of a voice she has admired for years, at a moment when the country’s craft, business and design story is finally travelling outward rather than only inward.

For APX Luxury, backed by Jaipur Capital and already running a stable that includes AUGUSTMAN, Travel + Leisure India & South Asia and Architecture + Design, the launch is a logical extension rather than a leap. Getting the editor right before the launch, rather than after, suggests a publisher taking the India bet seriously.
