NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki is giving its Victoris SUV a golden-year makeover. To mark the model’s first anniversary and record sales performance, the automaker has launched the Victoris Aurum Edition, a Strong Hybrid variant with distinctive copper accents and chrome accessories, featuring Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor as its face.

Named after the Latin word for gold, Aurum celebrates the SUV’s first year in the market. Maruti Suzuki said the Victoris set a record for the highest number of cars sold in the first year of a new model launch in India’s passenger vehicle category.

The company also said the Victoris became the fastest-selling passenger vehicle in India to cross both the one lakh and 1.5 lakh sales milestones since launch.

The Victoris Aurum Edition features copper-coloured inserts on the front, side and rear skid plate designs, as well as the wheel arches. Chrome accessories have been added to the front grille, fenders, bumpers, body-side mouldings and door visors.

The package also includes all-weather 3D cabin mats, a 3D boot mat and a rear trunk sill guard. The edition retains Strong Hybrid technology with an EV mode, while the styling upgrades give it a more distinctive festive-season look.

Maruti Suzuki has priced the Aurum Edition kit at Rs 22,990. The company did not specify in the announcement whether this price includes any additional charges.

The automaker has brought Shahid Kapoor on board to front the Aurum Edition campaign, aligning the actor’s contemporary style with the SUV’s positioning for young, tech-savvy buyers.

Commenting on the launch, Maruti Suzuki India Limited senior executive officer, marketing and sales Partho Banerjee said the Victoris had resonated with buyers looking for a feature-rich SUV.

“As we celebrate its first anniversary, it’s worth noting that the VICTORIS has become the fastest-selling PV to clock both the 1.5 lakh and 1 lakh sales milestones, going on to achieve the highest sales for any car in India during its first year of launch,” Banerjee said.

He added that the Aurum Edition’s styling enhancements were intended to make the festive season more special for customers.

The Victoris has also collected industry recognition during its debut year. It won the Indian Car of the Year Award (ICOTY) 2026, alongside Car of the Year honours from BBC Top Gear India, Car India magazine, ABP Live Auto and Hindustan Times Auto.

The Aurum Edition adds a celebratory chapter to the SUV’s first year, as Maruti Suzuki seeks to build on its sales momentum with a special-edition offering aimed at customers looking for a more distinctive finish.
