MUMBAI: Mahindra & Mahindra crossed the one lakh monthly vehicle sales mark for the first time in July, reporting total automotive sales of 1,03,860 units, up around 26 per cent year-on-year.

The milestone was driven by strong demand for the automaker’s utility vehicles, alongside growth in commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and exports.

Mahindra’s utility vehicle portfolio remained the biggest contributor to its monthly volumes. Domestic SUV sales rose 20 per cent to 60,048 units in July, compared with 49,871 units in the year-ago period. Including exports, total SUV sales stood at 60,887 units.

The company recorded its second consecutive month of selling more than 60,000 SUVs, with the Scorpio range leading the portfolio.

Scorpio sales stood at 16,009 units in July, up 16 per cent year-on-year. The Thar followed with 10,558 units, while the XUV 3XO, Bolero and XUV 7XO also contributed to the strong performance.

Mahindra’s July portfolio included the Thar and Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 7XO and its electric-origin SUVs.

Growth extended beyond passenger vehicles. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles below 3.5 tonnes increased 23 per cent year-on-year to 25,204 units.

Light commercial vehicles weighing less than two tonnes recorded a sharper 40 per cent increase, reaching 3,870 units during the month.

Mahindra’s three-wheeler business also posted strong growth. Sales jumped 53 per cent year-on-year to 14,538 units, supported by demand across passenger and goods applications.

The company also recorded 4,070 vehicle exports in July, marking a 47 per cent increase from the year-ago period.

Mahindra’s farm equipment business provided another growth driver, with domestic tractor sales rising 21 per cent year-on-year to 32,643 units.

Total tractor sales, including exports, stood at 34,420 units for the month. The company attributed the broader farm demand environment to factors including healthy reservoir levels and kharif sowing activity.

With SUV volumes holding above the 60,000-unit mark and growth broadening across commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and tractors, Mahindra’s July performance marks a strong start to the second quarter of FY27.
