NEW DELHI: Stretching into India, one yoga pose at a time. lululemon has announced that its first-ever store in the country will open at DLF Promenade in New Delhi later this autumn, marking the Canadian premium activewear brand’s long-awaited entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets.

The launch is part of lululemon’s franchise partnership with Tata CLiQ, which will also introduce the brand on its digital platforms, Tata CLiQ Luxury and Tata CLiQ Fashion, when the physical store opens.

The New Delhi outlet will stock the brand’s range of performance apparel and accessories for men and women across activities such as yoga, Pilates, running, training, tennis, golf and everyday movement. Beyond retail, the store is also expected to function as a community hub where customers can engage with brand ambassadors and local fitness and wellness groups.

Commenting on the India debut, lululemon senior vice president, EMEA Sarah Clark said bringing the brand to India marks an important milestone in its global expansion strategy.

She said the company has been working closely with Tata CLiQ to build relationships within New Delhi’s health and fitness community ahead of the launch, adding that the city’s growing base of active consumers is increasingly seeking premium performance products that combine technical innovation with contemporary style.

Echoing the sentiment, Tata CLiQ chief executive officer Gopal Asthana said the partnership represents another step in bringing leading international brands to Indian consumers.

He noted that interest in active lifestyles continues to grow across the country, creating demand for products that balance performance and design. Asthana added that the company is looking forward to expanding lululemon’s omnichannel presence through both physical retail and its digital platforms.

India’s launch adds another market to lululemon’s ongoing international expansion. The company now operates in more than 30 markets globally across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and mainland China.

The India entry also follows lululemon’s recent expansion into Poland, Greece, Hungary and Romania through its franchise partnership model earlier this year.

With premium athleisure continuing to gain momentum among Indian consumers, lululemon’s arrival signals growing confidence in the country’s appetite for global performance and lifestyle brands. For shoppers, it means the wait for the iconic yoga pants is almost over.
