Lay’s launches six-week contest offering chance to meet Ranbir Kapoor
Rs 20 packs unlock rewards from gaming consoles and smartphones to an international holiday
MUMBAI: This time, opening a packet could open a few more doors. Lay’s has launched ‘Lay’s Kholo, Ranbir Se Milo’, a six-week consumer contest that gives buyers of eligible Rs 20 packs a shot at prizes ranging from a gaming console to an international holiday and, for the biggest reward, a face-to-face meeting with brand ambassador Ranbir Kapoor.
The contest is built around verified pack purchases, with rewards increasing as consumers collect more eligible packs. Buyers can pick up participating packs from neighbourhood stores and scan the QR code or digital link on the pack to enter a Lay’s WhatsApp journey, where they can upload and verify their packs.
Three verified packs give consumers a chance to win a gaming console, while five packs unlock a chance at a premium smartphone. Those who verify 10 packs can compete for an international holiday, while 20 verified packs put them in the running for the chance to meet Kapoor.
The contest carries a total prize value of Rs 2 crore, including the indicative value assigned to the meet-and-greet opportunity with Kapoor.
The campaign will run across retail, digital, creator and social media channels, with neighbourhood stores serving as the main point of participation.
Aastha Bhasin, marketing director, Potato Chips Category, PepsiCo India, said the initiative was designed to turn the familiar act of opening a Lay’s pack into a consumer reward opportunity.
Kapoor said the campaign was particularly aimed at fans, adding that the possibility of turning a Rs 20 pack into a chance to meet him made the contest exciting.
For Lay’s, the maths is straightforward: open three, five, 10 or 20 packs, and the rewards keep getting bigger. But for fans chasing the biggest prize, the real crunch comes at 20 where a packet of chips could lead to a meeting with Ranbir Kapoor.
