Kimmy Huynh named Disney+ Asia Pacific operations director
Nearly three years into the Disney+ APAC PMO, Huynh takes the director’s chair for operations, with a nod to work-life balance along the way
SINGAPORE: Kimmy Huynh has been named director, head of operations, Disney+ Asia Pacific at The Walt Disney Company, effective September 2026, capping a streaming career that stretches back to the earliest days of Disney+ in the region. The move keeps her within the Disney+ APAC leadership fold, reporting into a team led by Tony Zameczkowski, senior vice-president and general manager, Disney+ Asia Pacific.
Huynh joined Disney in July 2020 as project manager for the Disney+ and Disney+Hotstar launch, and led the inaugural Singapore launch on February 23rd 2021 across all six content brands, Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, National Geographic and Star. That effort ran across 22 work streams with roughly 200 team members. She then spent a year and five months as senior manager, project management and content operations, dual-hatted as APAC content operations lead and Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan project management lead, before moving into senior manager, APAC PMO in November 2023, a role she held for nearly three years, running team management, portfolio and capacity planning, and senior stakeholder reporting across the region.
Her career before Disney ran through Hong Kong and Southeast Asia’s tech and streaming scene. At HOOQ Digital, the Sony Pictures Television and Warner Brothers-backed streamer, she rose from senior program manager to associate director between July 2017 and July 2020, leading the launch of GooglePlay, AmazonPay and OVO digital wallets, a move that lifted direct-to-consumer sales by 20 per cent, and overseeing a video platform migration to Brightcove that saved the company roughly $5m. Earlier still, she spent four years as senior project management consultant at SMS Management & Technology in Hong Kong, working across banking, insurance, mining and construction clients including AXA Hong Kong, and five years and eight months as an information technology project manager at ANZ in Melbourne, managing teams of 50 to 60 staff.
In her post announcing the move, Huynh thanked Dave Powell, her manager for the past three-plus years, and Zameczkowski for his trust and support, alongside her Disney+ APAC PMO team, mentors and colleagues, and her husband, Aaron Jones, and family for their support.
