Kaala Ghoda Films appoints Anup Jain as head of global sales

The Mumbai creative shop is building a commercial engine to hunt bigger international game

Mumbai:  Kaala Ghoda Films, the Mumbai outfit that fuses storytelling with behavioural psychology, neuroscience, data and technology, has thrown down a marker on its global ambitions. Anup Jain joins as head of global sales, and the appointment is less a hire than a statement of intent: this is a company done being just a creative shop and ready to become a serious international commercial player.

The timing is deliberate. Kaala Ghoda is stepping beyond its established turf of creative, film, branded content and marketing to chase bigger international mandates from global brands, agencies and enterprise clients. That is a meaningfully harder game, and it needs a different kind of operator to play it.

Jain fits the brief. He carries more than 16 years of leadership across corporate travel, hospitality and enterprise services, with senior stints at Landmark Group Dubai, Thomas Cook, Riya Travel & Tours, Vihangs Palm Club & Hotel and DuDigital Global. Across those roles he has managed and influenced commercial portfolios worth more than Rs 490 crore ($60 million-plus) in cumulative profit and loss, a résumé built on complex markets and high-value enterprise relationships rather than conventional ad sales.

His brief at Kaala Ghoda is deliberately expansive. Jain will build the company’s global commercial architecture from scratch: opening international acquisition channels, deepening enterprise relationships, running strategic RFPs, stitching cross-border partnerships and assembling a sales organisation capable of carrying Kaala Ghoda’s creative capability into bigger global markets. It is infrastructure building, not just business development.

The move also signals a sharper strategic bet. Kaala Ghoda has built its pitch around the collision of creative storytelling, behavioural psychology, neuroscience, data and technology, spanning brand strategy, content, film, performance marketing and digital experiences. The hard part was never the multidisciplinary capability; it is turning that into a scalable global business, and that is precisely the gap Jain is meant to close.

Jain himself is blunt about the task ahead. International expansion, he argues, needs more than great creative work; it demands the commercial infrastructure, relationships and discipline to win high-value opportunities consistently. His job, as he frames it, is building the global engine around Kaala Ghoda’s creative capability, choosing the right partnerships and the right markets.

Kaala Ghoda’s leadership is equally direct about ambition. The company does not want to simply export Indian creative talent abroad; it wants to compete at the highest level of the global creative and marketing ecosystem. With Jain steering commercial strategy, the next chapter is a bet that Indian creative depth and global commercial sophistication can be built into one business, rather than treated as separate strengths.
