JW Marriott Goa appoints Akshay Shetty as director of sales and marketing
The 14-year luxury hospitality veteran arrives from JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu with two consecutive Marriott president’s circle awards and a mandate to sharpen the resort’s commercial edge
GOA: JW Marriott Goa has a new commercial head, and he comes with a trophy cabinet to match his brief.
Akshay Shetty has been appointed director of sales and marketing at JW Marriott Goa, bringing 14 years of experience in business development and sales across luxury hotel brands in India and internationally. He joins from JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, where he led a high-performing sales team and drove significant growth in the hotel’s group rooms and catering portfolio.
The accolades speak for themselves. Shetty was named BW Hotelier Sales Leader of the Year for the West Zone in 2024 and has won Marriott International’s president’s circle APEC top performer award in both 2024 and 2025, one of the most competitive internal honours in the group’s Asia Pacific operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel management from Mangalore University.
In his new role, Shetty will oversee the full sales and marketing function at JW Marriott Goa, with a focus on driving revenue performance, strengthening brand positioning and expanding reach across key feeder markets in India. His target segments span corporate, MICE, leisure, weddings and travel trade. An earlier stint in front office operations gives him a grounding in hotel operations that many pure sales professionals lack.
His career has been built across leading Indian and international hotel chains, where he has consistently delivered revenue growth and market share gains within competitive luxury sets. Strategic foresight and a market-driven approach are the qualities most often attached to his name, and JW Marriott Goa will be hoping both are on full display from the moment he takes the wheel.
Goa’s luxury hospitality market is as competitive as it is beautiful. Shetty arrives with exactly the kind of record that suggests he knows how to win in one.
