Judhajit Basu exits Tata Communications as associate director – corporate communications
Corporate communications leader closes a key chapter after a career spanning media and PR
MUMBAI: Judhajit Basu is turning the page on his Tata Communications chapter. The corporate communications specialist has exited the company after nearly three years as associate director, corporate communications.
Basu announced his departure in a LinkedIn post, reflecting on his time at the telecommunications and digital infrastructure company and thanking colleagues, business teams and agency partners who supported his work.
“From the depths of the ocean floor, to the vast expanse of the Cloud, to the red hot tracks of F1, it’s been an amazing ride with Tata Communications,” Basu wrote.
He described his tenure as a deeply fulfilling chapter and said it had been a privilege to help shape the company’s communications and storytelling efforts.
During his stint, Basu worked across corporate communications, media relations and executive positioning. His responsibilities included supporting media interviews, bylines, executive opinion pieces, crisis communications and speaking opportunities, while working with teams across business units and geographies.
Basu joined Tata Communications in November 2023 and was based in Mumbai. His departure brings to a close a tenure of about two years and 10 months.
Basu brings a strong editorial background to his communications career. Before joining Tata Communications, he served as director, brand content at Harappa, part of upGrad, from March 2022 to October 2023.
He previously spent almost four years at The Times of India as senior assistant editor, following editorial roles at Web18 & Mobile18 and India Today.
At India Today, Basu worked on Newsflicks, a visual news application, where he was involved in data visualisation and storyboarding around macroeconomic, business and sports data.
His journalism experience has since fed into a corporate communications career focused on storytelling, media engagement and executive narratives.
In his farewell note, Basu thanked colleagues across Tata Communications’ business units and geographies, along with his communications team and PR agency partners.
He specifically recalled the range of work delivered during his tenure, from media interviews and executive bylines to crisis responses and speaker opportunities.
“There are far too many people to thank, but you know exactly who you are,” he wrote, acknowledging those who helped his team deliver the company’s communications agenda.
Basu ended the post with a brief sign-off: “Tata, till next time…”
With his exit, Basu leaves behind a career that has moved from journalism and visual storytelling into corporate communications. His next move has not yet been announced, leaving the communications professional’s next chapter open.
