MUMBAI: Painting the future has just become a little less of a leap of faith. JSW Paints has launched an AI-first Paint Visualizer, a digital platform that aims to take the uncertainty out of choosing colours by allowing consumers to see how different shades would look in their homes before making a decision.

The company said the new platform goes beyond traditional visualisation tools by combining artificial intelligence with design intelligence to deliver realistic previews of painted spaces. It uses features such as lighting simulation, wall mapping and true-to-life colour rendering to recreate how colours are likely to appear under real-world conditions.

The launch comes as homeowners increasingly turn to digital tools before starting renovation or painting projects. According to the company, more than 100 million colour-related searches are made annually in India’s paints category, highlighting both the popularity of online research and the difficulty many consumers face in narrowing down their choices.

Rather than scrolling through extensive shade catalogues, users can describe their room, preferred style or colour preferences in simple language. The AI platform then generates personalised recommendations tailored to those inputs, making the selection process quicker and easier.

The Paint Visualizer also introduces regionally inspired colour palettes that reflect India’s varied architectural styles and cultural influences. By offering suggestions based on local aesthetics alongside personal preferences, the platform aims to make colour recommendations feel more relevant to individual users.

Another feature, the Intelligent Shade Recommender, analyses user inputs to suggest suitable colours for different spaces. The company says this personalised approach is intended to give homeowners greater confidence before committing to a final shade.

Speaking about the launch, JSW Paints chief marketing officer Rohit Talwar said choosing a home’s colour scheme is both an emotional and highly personal decision, but one that often becomes overwhelming because of the sheer number of available options.

“Our AI-First Paint Visualizer is designed to reduce this friction by helping consumers visualise colours in their own spaces, discover personalised recommendations, and make decisions with greater confidence,” said JSW Paints chief marketing officer Rohit Talwar. He added that while AI can simplify the process, the final choice remains a reflection of an individual’s taste, emotions and aspirations.

Launched in 2019 as part of the JSW Group, JSW Paints has positioned itself as an environmentally conscious challenger in India’s paints market. The company focuses on decorative and industrial coatings, with an emphasis on water-based products and sustainable manufacturing practices. It also says it has become India’s largest industrial coil coatings company.

With homeowners increasingly expecting digital-first experiences across home improvement categories, AI-powered tools are rapidly becoming part of the buying journey. By bringing personalisation, realistic visualisation and intelligent recommendations into one platform, JSW Paints is betting that the next splash of colour will begin with a conversation with AI rather than a handful of paint swatches.
