iPhone 17 price drops to Rs 53,817 with Flipkart offers

256GB model gets discounts and exchange benefits ahead of Apple’s September 9 event

MUMBAI: Apple’s latest iPhone is getting a little less costly just as its successor gets ready to steal the spotlight. The 256GB iPhone 17, which launched in India at Rs 82,900, can now cost an effective Rs 53,817 on Flipkart when a direct discount, eligible bank offer and exchange bonus are combined.

The catch? Rs 53,817 is an effective price, not the phone’s standard selling price, and buyers need to meet the conditions attached to all three offers.

Here’s how the headline price is reached. Flipkart’s Rs 2,000 discount brings the price down from Rs 82,900 to Rs 80,900. An eligible bank offer worth Rs 4,833 then takes it to Rs 76,067. Exchanging an iPhone 13 128GB in excellent condition, valued at Rs 22,250, brings the effective outlay to Rs 53,817.

Without the exchange, the phone costs around Rs 76,067 after the direct and bank discounts.

The bank benefit is available to eligible Flipkart SBI or Axis Bank credit card holders. The exchange value, meanwhile, depends on the old handset’s model and condition. Scratches, dents or other damage can reduce the amount offered, so not every buyer will qualify for the full Rs 22,250.

The timing of the offer is particularly interesting. Apple’s September 9 launch event is just two days away, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max expected to make their debut. Reports have also pointed to a possible foldable iPhone joining the line-up.

With the next generation expected to occupy the premium end of Apple’s portfolio, and reports suggesting higher prices for the iPhone 18 Pro models, the outgoing iPhone 17 could become an attractive alternative for buyers who would rather save money than chase the newest badge.

And the hardware has not suddenly become last year’s leftovers. The iPhone 17 256GB features a 6.3-inch 120Hz ProMotion display, Apple’s A19 chip, and a dual rear-camera system with two 48MP cameras. It also supports Apple Intelligence and uses Ceramic Shield 2 on the front.

There are, however, a few strings attached to the bargain.

The full Rs 53,817 effective price requires an eligible SBI or Axis Bank credit card, a qualifying exchange handset and the specified exchange valuation. The offer is also limited-period, meaning benefits can change with inventory, bank promotions and exchange assessments.

The September 9 event adds another wrinkle. Once Apple reveals the iPhone 18 Pro range, retailers could potentially increase discounts on existing iPhone 17 inventory, although there is no guarantee that the current combination of offers will remain available.

For shoppers who are happy to skip the newest iPhone, the current deal makes the iPhone 17 considerably more tempting provided their card and old phone can do the heavy lifting.
