MUMBAI: INNOCEAN India is giving its South India strategy a new driver. The marketing and communications agency backed by Hyundai Motor Group has appointed Ruchi Mishra as vice president, with a mandate to build and lead its newly established Bengaluru office and drive business across the southern market.

Mishra will focus on strengthening client relationships, developing new business and expanding INNOCEAN India’s integrated capabilities across strategy, creative, media, content, digital, data and AI-led marketing.

The move comes as South India continues to attract brands across mobility, electric vehicles, technology, fintech and direct-to-consumer businesses. Bengaluru, in particular, gives agencies access to a dense mix of technology-led companies and fast-growing consumer businesses.

For INNOCEAN, the ambition goes beyond simply opening another office. Mishra will work to establish Bengaluru as a strategic hub in its own right, rather than a satellite operation, while also shaping the agency’s wider South India growth strategy.

She will lead the region’s new-business pipeline, support the agency’s work for Hyundai and Kia, and help bring together capabilities across strategy, content, media and AI.

Mishra brings around two decades of experience across agencies including Mullen Lowe and JWT/VML, as well as Dubai-based research firm 4Sight and independent consulting assignments. Her experience spans sectors such as edtech, health tech and consumer businesses.

Over the years, she has worked on brands including Idea Cellular, Lifebuoy, Fair & Lovely, Cholayil, Openhouse and Upfield’s Blue Band Margarine. Her experience also includes building brands from the ground up, scaling businesses and working on integrated growth and business transformation programmes.

At INNOCEAN India, Mishra will be based in Bengaluru and report to Amitabh Sreedharan, EVP, growth, and Santosh Kumar, COO, INNOCEAN Worldwide India.

“India is one of the most important growth markets within the INNOCEAN global network, and we continue to invest in the talent and capabilities needed to support our long-term ambitions here. Ruchi’s appointment is an important addition to our leadership team as we strengthen our presence in South India,” said INNOCEAN India chief executive officer and managing director Jaeho Yoo (Jaden).

Yoo added that Mishra’s market understanding, client leadership and entrepreneurial approach would help the agency deepen client partnerships, broaden its integrated offering and accelerate its next phase of growth.

Mishra said the opportunity was less about discovering South India and more about building an agency presence that keeps pace with the region.

“South India isn’t a market waiting to be discovered, it’s already moving, often faster than the communications industry serving it,” said INNOCEAN India vice president Ruchi Mishra. She said the Bengaluru hub would focus on starting with a business problem and bringing together the right mix of strategy, content, media and AI-led capabilities to solve it.

INNOCEAN India chief operating officer Santosh Kumar said Bengaluru was central to the agency’s South India growth plans and that Mishra’s experience in building businesses, leading teams and delivering integrated solutions made her suited to the role.

The appointment also comes as INNOCEAN strengthens its wider India footprint, with new offices in Bengaluru and Mumbai. The agency is looking to build specialised hubs across digital, data, commerce, content and consulting, while creating a more unified marketing operation for closer client collaboration and faster response to market opportunities.

With Mishra at the helm in Bengaluru, INNOCEAN’s southern strategy is now moving from expansion on paper to a hub-and-growth model on the ground.
