Infosys names Ashiss Kumar Dash as CEO designate, Salil Parekh to step down in 2027
Dash will take over as CEO and managing director from April 1, 2027, subject to statutory approvals, following a year-long transition alongside Parekh.
BENGALURU: Infosys has its next chief lined up. The IT major has named Ashiss Kumar Dash as CEO designate, setting the stage for a planned leadership transition that will see Salil Parekh step down on March 31, 2027, after completing his second term.
The board announced the appointment on July 23, with Dash taking charge as CEO designate with immediate effect. Subject to statutory approvals, he will assume the roles of CEO and managing director from April 1, 2027, for a five-year term.
Dash will work alongside Parekh over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover. The appointment was approved by the board following a recommendation from its nomination and remuneration committee.
With more than 30 years at Infosys, Dash brings deep institutional knowledge to the top job. He currently leads a global business portfolio spanning multiple industry verticals and has held senior roles across customer-facing businesses, delivery and global operations. He also heads Infosys’ sustainability business.
Nandan Nilekani, chairman of the board at Infosys, said the company was “delighted” to appoint an internal leader as its next CEO, highlighting the need for a chief who can drive transformation while preserving the values and customer trust associated with the company.
Nilekani also credited Parekh with strengthening Infosys’ market position, expanding its capabilities and delivering value to shareholders during his nine-year tenure. Parekh, he said, played a key role in the company’s turnaround, its digital transformation and the development of its AI strategy.
Parekh said he had the privilege of leading Infosys from $10 billion in revenue to more than $20 billion across his two terms. He described Dash as a leader with “integrity, customer focus, and ability to lead through change”, adding that his deep understanding of Infosys’ clients, business and people would position him well for the company’s next phase.
For Dash, the timing of the transition comes as AI reshapes how businesses operate and create value. He said Infosys enters this new era with a strong AI strategy, deep client relationships and a global talent base, and pledged to build on those strengths while accelerating innovation and expanding the company’s capabilities.
The leadership baton, then, is already moving—just not quite out of Parekh’s hands yet. With nearly a year to work together, Infosys is betting on continuity, an internal succession and a clear focus on the AI-led transformation that is rapidly redefining the technology industry.
