IKEA India names Jessamine Avila as chief marketing officer
Marketing veteran to lead brand strategy as IKEA expands its omnichannel presence in India
BENGALURU: A fresh assembly for the marketing team. IKEA has appointed Jessamine Avila as chief marketing officer for India, bolstering its leadership team as the Swedish home furnishings retailer accelerates its omnichannel growth strategy in the country.
In her new role, Avila will be part of IKEA India’s Growth and Marketing function, where she will oversee the company’s marketing strategy and work to strengthen the brand’s relevance across both physical stores and digital platforms.
Avila brings more than two decades of experience in marketing and brand building, including 12 years with IKEA across global and regional roles. During her tenure, she held leadership positions in Australia and worked with the company’s global marketing team in Malmö, contributing to brand transformation initiatives aimed at deepening customer engagement and supporting long-term business growth.
Her experience combines a global understanding of the IKEA brand with expertise in adapting international strategies to local markets.
In India, Avila will focus on strengthening customer engagement and refining the brand’s identity across channels, with the aim of delivering more consistent and relevant consumer experiences.
Since entering the Indian market, IKEA has steadily expanded its presence through a mix of immersive retail formats, digital-first initiatives and locally relevant storytelling centred on everyday life at home. The company says this approach has helped it build stronger consumer connections while supporting growth across both offline and online channels.
Commenting on her appointment, Jessamine Avila said she looks forward to working with the India team and agency partners to create meaningful communication that strengthens local relevance and brings IKEA closer to consumers’ everyday lives.
The appointment comes as IKEA continues to deepen its footprint in India, with marketing expected to play a central role in driving awareness, customer engagement and long-term growth across one of its key international markets.
