IIM Kozhikode opens Bloomberg Finance Lab with 12 terminals for market training
New facility brings real-time financial data and analytics to strengthen student industry readiness
Kozhikode: IIM Kozhikode is giving its finance students a front-row seat to the markets. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has partnered with Bloomberg to launch a Bloomberg Finance Lab equipped with 12 Bloomberg Terminals, giving students access to the same financial data, analytics and market intelligence tools used by investment professionals across the world.
The new facility is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world financial markets by enabling students to work with live market data, historical datasets, news and analytical tools widely used across the financial services industry.
The Bloomberg Finance Lab also places IIM Kozhikode among more than 1,200 academic institutions globally that have integrated Bloomberg’s professional technology into their teaching and research programmes.
According to the institute, the lab will support practical learning by helping students develop analytical skills, strengthen evidence-based decision-making and gain exposure to the fast-moving global investment landscape.
Speaking at the launch, IIM Kozhikode director Debashis Chatterjee said, “As financial markets become increasingly interconnected and data-driven, experiential learning is no longer optional. This initiative will equip our students with the analytical capabilities, technological proficiency and global perspective required to thrive in the evolving world of finance and investment.”
Bloomberg said the initiative reflects its long-term commitment to developing financial talent in India as the country’s capital markets continue to expand.
Bloomberg South Asia head Varun Chojhar said, “India’s ascent as a global financial hub is no longer a projection, it is playing out in real time, across capital markets, investment flows and financial services innovation. The professionals of the future who will lead this next chapter need to be trained on the tools that move markets today.”
The Bloomberg Finance Lab also provides access to Bloomberg for Education resources, including the Bloomberg Certificate programme, which is designed to help students build practical finance skills and improve their career readiness.
Highlighting the broader educational offering, Bloomberg for Education head James Coyle said, “This Finance Lab provides IIM Kozhikode with the full suite of Bloomberg for Education products. That includes the Bloomberg Certificate programme that can give students an edge in their studies and help them transition into India’s young and growing financial services workforce.”
The launch underscores a growing trend among Indian business schools to integrate industry-standard technology into their curricula, ensuring graduates enter the workforce with hands-on experience of the platforms and tools they are likely to use from day one.
