GURUGRAM: Hyundai is plugging into India’s EV ambitions with a bigger charging network. Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has announced that electric vehicle users can now access more than 30,000 charging points across the country through the myHyundai app, creating one of India’s largest integrated charging networks available on a single platform.

The expanded network has been developed through partnerships with multiple Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and is open to electric vehicle owners across brands, reflecting the company’s broader push to strengthen India’s charging infrastructure.

The move comes as charging availability remains one of the biggest hurdles to faster EV adoption in the country.

According to HMIL, the app enables users to locate charging stations, navigate to them, reserve charging slots in advance and make digital payments through a single interface. The company said charging facilities are available within an average radius of 25 km, allowing users to travel across major routes from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with greater confidence.

The network covers key highway corridors, including Delhi, Gurugram and Jaipur; Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru; Mumbai, Ratnagiri and Goa; Chennai, Vellore and Bengaluru; and Hyderabad, Kurnool and Bengaluru.

Alongside partnerships with third-party operators, Hyundai is continuing to invest in its own charging infrastructure.

The company currently operates 183 DC fast-charging stations across 105 cities and plans to expand this network to 600 stations by 2030. The chargers, ranging from 60 kW to 240 kW, are being installed at dealerships, urban centres and major highways to support faster charging and improve long-distance travel.

“With charging infrastructure being a key catalyst for EV adoption in India, HMIL is committed to creating an ecosystem that makes electric mobility practical, convenient and accessible to all. Through the integration of over 30,000 charging points on the myHyundai app, we are empowering EV users with one of India’s largest charging networks accessible through a single platform. Importantly, the platform is open to EV owners across brands, reinforcing HMIL’s commitment to developing India’s broader EV ecosystem,” Hyundai Motor India managing director and chief executive officer Tarun Garg said.

He added that the company would more than triple its proprietary DC fast public charging network to 600 stations by 2030, bringing India’s charging infrastructure closer to global standards.

Hyundai said its charging infrastructure has already been used by more than 300,000 EV users through the myHyundai app since January 2023, delivering over 5 million kWh of electricity.

According to the company, utilisation of its charging network has helped avoid approximately 3.5 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions, supporting cleaner mobility and reducing transport-related emissions.

The charging infrastructure expansion also complements Hyundai’s product roadmap in India. The company confirmed it plans to enter the mass-market electric vehicle segment with the launch of a new electric SUV during the current financial year.

As competition intensifies in India’s fast-growing EV market, automakers are increasingly focusing not only on launching new vehicles but also on building the supporting infrastructure needed to encourage wider adoption. Hyundai’s latest push signals that charging convenience is becoming as important as the cars themselves in driving India’s electric mobility transition.
