Hyundai adds remote immobiliser to VENUE and VENUE N Line for theft protection
Bluelink update lets owners remotely secure parked SUVs and track their location
GURUGRAM: Hyundai is giving its connected-car security a new lock and key. Hyundai Motor India has introduced a Bluelink Remote Immobiliser for the VENUE and VENUE N Line, allowing owners to remotely immobilise a parked vehicle through the Bluelink app and help prevent an unauthorised restart.
The feature is available on the connected-car-Navigation-Cockpit (ccNC)-equipped HX10 variant of the Hyundai VENUE and N10 variant of the VENUE N Line. Eligible vehicles sold since November 2025 will receive the feature remotely, without requiring a workshop visit.
The Remote Immobiliser is designed to offer both proactive and reactive protection. Owners can activate the immobiliser while the vehicle is parked, after which the vehicle cannot be restarted without authorisation.
In a suspected theft situation, the immobiliser can also be activated directly through the Bluelink app, even if the owner had not enabled it earlier. Once the vehicle is switched off, it cannot be restarted.
Importantly, the system does not stop or switch off a moving vehicle, keeping customer safety at the centre of the feature.
The Bluelink app also provides live location tracking, subject to network connectivity. This can help customers and law enforcement authorities locate a vehicle more quickly in the event of suspected theft.
Hyundai Motor India said the feature addresses security concerns including reported vehicle theft methods such as key cloning. The remote immobiliser is currently available on the Hyundai IONIQ 5 as well as the ccNC-equipped VENUE HX10 and VENUE N Line N10 variants.
Speaking on the launch, Hyundai Motor India managing director & CEO Tarun Garg said Hyundai Bluelink now powers more than eight lakh connected vehicles in India and that the company is continuing to strengthen its connected mobility ecosystem.
He added that the Remote Immobiliser gives owners greater control by allowing them to secure parked vehicles remotely and respond quickly in case of suspected theft, while safeguards ensure that the system does not compromise driving safety.
The feature also highlights Hyundai’s push towards Software-Defined Vehicle technology. Instead of requiring owners to visit a workshop, the Remote Immobiliser is being delivered through a Controller Over-the-Air, or C-OTA, update.
C-OTA allows software in a vehicle controller to be updated wirelessly. Hyundai said its ccNC-equipped vehicles can receive C-OTA updates across up to 19 vehicle controllers, allowing new features and enhancements to be introduced remotely.
The eligible VENUE and VENUE N Line vehicles sold since November 2025 will receive the Remote Immobiliser update without a workshop visit. From September 2026, the feature is being offered as standard on the ccNC-equipped VENUE HX10 and VENUE N Line N10 variants.
Hyundai also plans to introduce the feature in phases across select existing Bluelink-equipped models and future connected vehicles.
The Remote Immobiliser adds another layer to Hyundai Bluelink, which is available across 11 of the automaker’s 15-model portfolio.
The connected platform offers more than 70 features, including proactive alerts, SOS and emergency assistance, automatic crash notification, remote vehicle status, home-to-car connectivity, Hyundai Pay, Digital Key, Digital Passport and Find My Car through the side-view monitor.
Hyundai Bluelink-equipped vehicles also support up to 492 AI-powered voice commands and multilingual interface support, although the exact feature set varies by model.
For Hyundai, the latest update is less about adding another app feature and more about making connected technology useful when it matters most. By bringing theft protection directly to the owner’s phone and delivering it through an over-the-air update, the automaker is pushing the connected car a step closer to becoming a remotely managed digital product.
