BENGALURU: Talk about a smart move. HCLTech has landed a landmark AI-powered transformation contract worth an estimated $1.14 billion (around Rs 10,872 crore) from a Europe-headquartered Fortune Global 50 company, marking one of the biggest IT services deals announced by an Indian technology firm this year.

The agreement, disclosed to stock exchanges on July 3, will see HCLTech establish an AI-driven operating model to transform and manage the client’s global digital workplace and enterprise network infrastructure. The initial term runs from July 2026 until December 2031, with an option to extend the partnership by another five years.

Valued at an estimated $1.14 billion during the initial contract period, the engagement is entirely net new business for HCLTech, providing a significant boost to the company’s order book ahead of its quarterly earnings. The identity of the customer has not been disclosed because of confidentiality obligations, although HCLTech confirmed it is a Europe-based Fortune Global 50 enterprise.

The deal highlights how artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming central to enterprise IT strategies. Rather than limiting AI to pilot projects, large organisations are increasingly embedding the technology into critical workplace operations, network management and infrastructure services to improve efficiency, automation and user experience.

The latest win also reinforces HCLTech’s growing momentum in AI-led digital transformation. In recent weeks, the company has signed a long-term strategic agreement with Finnish renewable energy company Neste to accelerate AI-enabled IT transformation, partnered with Nokia on autonomous telecom network optimisation, and announced collaborations with Circles and GreySkies to develop AI-driven telecom software platforms.

HCLTech has also expanded its AI portfolio through acquisitions and investments, including the purchase of Jaspersoft from Cloud Software Group and participation in the Series B funding round of Sarvam AI.

The latest contract further strengthens HCLTech’s position in AI-enabled infrastructure management and signals that global enterprises are increasingly committing to large-scale AI transformation programmes that extend well beyond experimentation into core business operations.
