Havas acquires Spanish experiential agency MUT
Barcelona-based events specialist joins the Group to bolster its Spanish growth ambitions
FRANCE: Havas has gone shopping in Barcelona, snapping up MUT, a Spanish agency that has made a name for itself in impact-driven experiential marketing and sustainable events. The deal beefs up Havas’s experiential offering in Spain and hands the Group sharper tools to help clients engage audiences through brand experiences and live events, precisely the sort of high-growth territory holding companies have been circling hungrily of late.
Founded in 2010 by chief executive Nacho Gómez, MUT is a tight 30-strong outfit with a track record of delivering high-impact projects well above its weight class. The agency brands itself a Positive Creativity® partner, building brand experiences and events designed to deliver social, environmental and business impact all at once, no small feat in an industry that often treats those three as mutually exclusive. Blending strategy, creativity and innovation, MUT has built a client roster that reads like a who’s who of Spanish and European business, Audi, Freixenet, T-Systems, Bodegas Torres, Veepee, Totogi, NTT DATA and Zurich Seguros among them, and has earned recognition as one of Spain’s leading event agencies in the process.
MUT will now be folded into Havas Spain, strengthening the Group’s capabilities across brand experiences, live events and sustainable event solutions, and marking another step in Havas’s continued push into Spain, a market it has flagged as a key priority. Gómez stays on as chief executive of MUT, a move designed to keep the agency’s business model and distinctive positioning intact rather than diluted by a new corporate owner.
Yannick Bolloré, chairman and chief executive of Havas, made the intent behind the deal plain. “I am delighted to welcome Nacho Gómez and the entire MUT team to the Havas family,” he said. “Their strong expertise in experiential marketing and live events perfectly aligns with our ambition to continue strengthening and expanding our capabilities in high-growth areas. By joining forces, we are enhancing our experiential marketing offering in Spain and enabling our clients to build desirable brands through powerful content and experiences that foster deeper connections with people.”
With MUT now under its roof, Havas has quietly picked up one of Spain’s sharpest experiential shops without disturbing the very thing that made it worth buying, and in an industry increasingly obsessed with live moments over static ads, that is a bet worth watching closely.
