Hathway Cable & Datacom CEO Tavinderjit Singh Panesar steps down
Gurjeev Singh Kapoor to take charge as Hathway reshuffles leadership team
MUMBAI: Hathway Cable & Datacom Ltd chief executive officer Tavinderjit Singh Panesar has stepped down from his role after a four-year stint at the helm of the cable and broadband company, marking a key leadership transition in India’s cable television and distribution sector.
Gurjeev Singh Kapoor will take over as chief executive officer, succeeding Panesar as Hathway looks to continue its focus on digital distribution, broadband expansion and operational efficiency.
Panesar joined Hathway Cable & Datacom Ltd in April 2022 as chief executive officer, where he was responsible for steering strategic initiatives, broadcast partnerships and operational transformation across markets. During his tenure, he also worked on strengthening content acquisition strategies and improving distribution frameworks.
Prior to becoming chief executive officer, he held several senior roles within the broader Reliance ecosystem, including head of strategic initiatives and broadcast partnerships at Jio Platforms’ Hathway Digital arm. His earlier career spans senior leadership positions in sports broadcasting and distribution, including his role as president at DSport India, where he led channel programming, operations and nationwide distribution expansion.
He has also been associated with industry bodies such as the All India Digital Cable Federation, contributing to policy discussions and sector-wide developments in India’s digital cable ecosystem.
The leadership change comes at a time when the cable and broadband industry is navigating rapid shifts driven by streaming platforms, digital-first consumption and evolving distribution economics. Operators are increasingly focusing on broadband-led growth and bundled service offerings to retain relevance in a highly competitive market.
With Kapoor set to take charge, Hathway is expected to further refine its strategy around digital infrastructure, customer experience and integrated media distribution. The transition signals a new phase for the company as it adapts to changing viewer behaviour and the broader convergence of cable, broadband and digital entertainment services.
