Gulf Pride launches ‘Kuch Behad Kar’ platform with MS Dhoni
New campaign shifts the focus from engine size to the ambition of Indian riders
MUMBAI: For India’s riders, ambition does not always come with a bigger engine. Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited is tapping into that idea with a new brand platform for its flagship motorcycle oil brand Gulf Pride, featuring its long-standing ambassador MS Dhoni.
Called ‘Kuch Behad Kar’, the platform is built around a simple thought: “Sapna CC dekh kar nahi aata.” The campaign argues that ambition is not determined by the size of the motorcycle, but by the determination of the person riding it.
The positioning follows consumer research into how younger Indians view success, particularly a generation that often wants to go further despite having limited resources. Gulf Pride is positioning itself around that gap, taking the conversation about performance beyond premium, high-capacity motorcycles and towards everyday commuters.
Across India, motorcycles serve purposes that go well beyond getting from one place to another. Riders use them to navigate crowded city roads, run small businesses, transport goods and travel through difficult rural terrain. Many also take modest, lower-cc motorcycles on journeys that demand considerably more from the machine.
Gulf Pride says its engine oil, formulated with Oxybitor technology, is designed to deliver improved pick-up and engine performance, giving riders an added advantage as they push their machines and themselves further.
The new platform will roll out through a 360-degree campaign covering television, digital, social media, retail and on-ground activations. Rather than being a one-off advertising push, Gulf Pride plans to build ‘Kuch Behad Kar’ into a longer-running conversation around ambition.
The brand has also partnered with MTV Hustle Season 5, extending the campaign’s central idea into the world of music and talent. The partnership reflects the belief that talent and ambition need an opportunity to shine, rather than a particular pedigree or starting point.
Gulf Pride will further take the platform online through #BehadStories, a long-term storytelling initiative aimed at finding real riders, dreamers and doers across the country. Their journeys will form the heart of the campaign, with their motorcycles playing a supporting role rather than stealing the spotlight.
Dhoni’s own journey gives the campaign a natural fit. Having risen from a small town to become one of India’s most recognisable sporting figures, he embodies the resilience, determination and performance mindset that Gulf Pride wants to associate with the new platform.
“Gulf Pride has always stood for performance. What’s changed is what performance means to today’s rider. It’s no longer about engine size, but about the determination to go further, whatever machine you’re riding,” said Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited managing director and CEO Ravi Chawla.
“‘Kuch Behad Kar’ sharpens that belief into a platform, and reflects our conviction, as a challenger brand, that every rider deserves an engine oil built for their ambition, not just their engine capacity,” he added.
The campaign also marks a shift in how the brand wants to talk about product performance, moving from technical claims towards a broader cultural idea.
“Cultural positioning has never mattered more than it does today, showing up in the real conversations that reflect people’s lives and realities, not just telling them what a product does,” said Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited chief marketing officer Aarthy Sridhar.
“For young India, that means ambition outpacing resources, captured in ‘Sapna CC dekh kar nahi aata’. Gulf Pride aims at democratising performance by bringing a conversation once reserved for high-CC, premium motorcycles to the everyday commuter,” she added.
Conceptualised and directed by Curativity, ‘Kuch Behad Kar’ signals the next phase of Gulf Pride’s brand strategy. With Dhoni at the centre and real riders lined up to tell their own stories, the brand is betting that the road to bigger dreams does not necessarily require a bigger bike.
