Government reconstitutes CBFC with 18 members including Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi
New board includes actors, filmmakers, musicians and other members for a three-year term
NEW DELHI: The Government of India has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with 18 members, with the new board taking effect immediately for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The reconstitution has been carried out under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, read with Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 16 September 2026.
The new board includes actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty, Manoj Joshi and Roopali Ganguly, filmmaker Priyadarshan, musician Ricky Kej and singer Hansraj Hans, among others.

The reconstitution comes after the government appointed Shashi Shekhar Vempati as CBFC chairperson in May 2026 for a three-year term, following Prasoon Joshi’s move to the chairmanship of Prasar Bharati.
