Gurugram: Godrej Industries Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Haryana government to invest around Rs 20,000 crore in the state, with the proposed investments expected to create about 40,000 jobs.

The MoU was signed on Monday, August 24, in the presence of Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini. The planned investments will build on the group’s existing footprint in the state and span residential and commercial development, infrastructure and related services.

Godrej Industries Group has invested around Rs 12,000 crore in Haryana so far and employs approximately 9,000 people across its businesses.

Godrej Properties is expected to account for a significant portion of the planned investment. The real estate company has already invested around Rs 11,000 crore in Haryana and plans to deploy another Rs 16,000 crore by FY28. This would take its total investment in the state to about Rs 27,000 crore.

The company currently has 18 projects across Gurugram, Sonipat, Faridabad, Panipat and Kurukshetra. Its upcoming projects are expected to generate more than 11,000 jobs.

Godrej Ventures, the group’s real estate private equity arm, has invested around Rs 1,000 crore in Haryana and plans to deploy a further Rs 3,500 crore in Grade A+ office infrastructure in Gurugram.

Those investments are expected to generate more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, adding another major employment component to the group’s expansion plans.

The proposed investment programme therefore extends beyond property development, covering a wider ecosystem of infrastructure and services. The group’s plans come as Haryana, particularly the Gurugram region, continues to attract large-scale investments in real estate and commercial infrastructure.

Shares of Godrej Industries were trading 1.17 per cent lower at Rs 1,215.60 as of 1.30pm on Monday. The stock has fallen 8.65 per cent over the past month, although it remains 18.14 per cent higher year-to-date.

The MoU marks a fresh push by the Godrej group into Haryana, with the proposed Rs 20,000 crore investment set to deepen its presence in the state while supporting new development and employment.
