Flipkart parks GOAT Sale vans outside rival’s offices in cheeky iPhone campaign
Playful activation targets competitor employees ahead of GOAT Sale with exclusive iPhone offer
BENGALURU: Talk about taking the competition to their doorstep. Ahead of this year’s Flipkart GOAT Sale, Flipkart has rolled out a tongue-in-cheek on-ground campaign by parking branded promotional vans outside offices of its biggest rival, Amazon.
The campaign centres on a playful challenge aimed directly at Amazon employees. Each van carries a provocative message: “A loyal Amazin employee will never scan this GOAT sale ad even if they get Rs 3000 off on the iPhone 17 worth Rs. 70,999 on the Flipkart GOAT Sale.”
The message is accompanied by a QR code that directs users to a dedicated landing page, where employees are invited to enter their employee ID to unlock the promotional GOAT Sale price of Rs 70,999 for the iPhone 17.
Rather than revealing one of its headline deals through conventional advertising channels, Flipkart has chosen to showcase it in front of a highly relevant audience: employees who work in the e-commerce industry and are likely to appreciate competitive pricing.
The activation also injects humour into the rivalry between the two marketplaces by framing the offer as a choice between workplace loyalty and a compelling discount on one of the season’s most sought-after smartphones.
The campaign relies on curiosity and participation, encouraging passers-by to scan the QR code while generating conversations both on the ground and across social media. By taking its messaging directly to a competitor’s doorstep, Flipkart has turned a standard sale announcement into a piece of experiential marketing.
The Flipkart GOAT Sale begins on 4 July. Whether the intended audience gives in to the temptation or not, Flipkart’s message is clear: some deals are hard to ignore, even when they’re parked outside the competition.
