MUMBAI: Disney is adding a little more magic to its marketing machinery. The Walt Disney Company has appointed Jennifer Creegan as its new head of marketing technology and operations, bringing in a senior executive with nearly three decades of experience across advertising, gaming, media, strategy and customer experience.

Creegan takes up the role in September 2026 after spending 27 years at Microsoft, where she held a series of leadership positions across advertising, product strategy, business operations and gaming.

In her new role, Creegan will work across Disney’s businesses, including film and television, streaming, sports, parks and experiences, games and consumer products. She will also collaborate with the company’s technology and data teams.

Her remit will focus on using marketing technology, data and insights to help Disney better understand its audiences, support faster decision-making and identify opportunities for growth and deeper fan engagement globally.

Creegan announced the move on LinkedIn, calling the appointment a “dream come true” and saying that Disney’s stories had been part of her life for as long as she could remember.

“The next chapter is here. It is a dream come true to go to Disney,” Creegan said. She added that contributing to the company’s marketing evolution and working with its teams to create impactful moments for fans was particularly meaningful.

She also thanked Asad Ayaz for the opportunity and said she was looking forward to getting started.

Creegan joins Disney with extensive experience at the intersection of technology, entertainment and advertising. Most recently, she served as vice-president, strategy, business model and insights for Xbox from March 2024 to August 2026.

At Xbox, she led business model strategy, operating model design and insights for the global gaming platform. Her work covered monetisation across memberships, advertising and the Xbox Store, while also bringing product, content, marketing and financial planning into a more integrated operating model.

Before that, Creegan was vice-president, global marketing and operations for Microsoft’s advertising business from September 2023 to March 2024. She led global marketing, customer experience and operations across the company’s advertising and media business, working with advertisers, publishers and partners.

She also spent more than 12 years in various general management roles within Microsoft’s advertising business, covering strategy, product, marketing and operations. Her responsibilities included scaling the advertising platform across markets and formats, as well as improving customer experience and enablement.

Creegan’s Microsoft career began in 1999. Before entering the technology sector, she spent five years in the performing arts, where she co-founded and managed a theatre company and led marketing and communications for performing arts organisations.

Her academic background is similarly broad. She holds degrees in history and painting from Syracuse University and also studied architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design.

The appointment comes as entertainment companies increasingly rely on technology, data and audience insights to connect content with consumers across platforms. Creegan’s combination of advertising, gaming, marketing and operations experience gives Disney an executive with a broad view of how those pieces can work together.

For Disney, her arrival adds another layer of expertise as the company looks to make its marketing more connected, data-led and responsive across its global portfolio.
