MUMBAI: Delhivery is delivering more than parcels this time, with a new welfare initiative aimed at strengthening the safety net for the people who keep its logistics network moving.

Delhivery has launched Abhayam, a comprehensive welfare programme designed to support nearly 1 lakh frontline workers across India with accident insurance, healthcare benefits, family support and financial security measures.

Announced on 22 June 2026 as the company marked its 15th anniversary, the initiative targets delivery personnel and operations staff, a workforce that plays a critical role in India’s rapidly expanding logistics sector.

At the heart of the programme is an accident insurance cover of up to Rs 15 lakh, aimed at protecting workers against the financial impact of unforeseen incidents. The scheme also includes health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh, which extends not only to employees but also to their spouses and up to two children.

Delhivery said the programme was developed in recognition of the financial vulnerability often faced by frontline and gig workers, where a single medical emergency or hospitalisation can significantly affect household finances.

Beyond insurance, Abhayam offers income-loss protection during hospitalisation, access to discounted medicines and healthcare support intended to reduce the burden of unexpected medical expenses.

The company has also built a strong family-focused component into the programme. Employees’ children will be eligible for scholarships, while spouses and daughters can access vocational training opportunities designed to improve employability and income prospects.

In addition, the initiative seeks to strengthen long-term financial wellbeing through easier access to personal loans, early earned wage access and enrolment opportunities under the National Pension System (NPS).

Commenting on the launch, Delhivery executive director and chief HR officer Suraj Saharan said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to the workforce that has supported its growth over the past decade and a half.

He added, “In 15 years, our frontline workers have helped deliver nearly 5 billion shipments. Abhayam is our attempt to deliver for them. We believe this programme is the best in class in India and ensures that our workers provide the best possible service while their health and family are taken care of.”

According to the company, the initiative combines healthcare, education, insurance and financial support within a single framework, making it one of the most comprehensive employee welfare programmes introduced for frontline logistics workers in India.

The launch also reflects a broader trend across corporate India, where employers are increasingly investing in social security, wellbeing and financial resilience programmes for frontline and gig-adjacent workers who form the backbone of essential services.

As India’s logistics sector continues to expand, Delhivery’s latest move signals a growing recognition that supporting workers and their families may be just as important as delivering packages on time.
