MUMBAI: Fancy a scoop of a rather sweet career opportunity? Deel has partnered with Dr. Bombay, the ice cream brand co-founded by Snoop Dogg, to find its first-ever international ice cream taste tester.

The unusual role is open to applicants anywhere in the world and comes with a three-month contract, a fully remote working arrangement and a salary of $10,000 a month. Applications opened on August 27 and will remain open for three weeks.

The successful candidate will be expected to do considerably more than simply eat ice cream. They will regularly sample Dr. Bombay flavours, track food and flavour trends, share ideas with the team and help identify what could become the next big taste sensation.

The role will also involve working with the Dr. Bombay team to create a new Deel-themed ice cream flavour, giving the successful applicant a direct hand in shaping the brand’s product pipeline.

And there is no requirement to be a trained chef or food scientist. Instead, Dr. Bombay is looking for someone with curiosity, strong social instincts and an outgoing personality. Cultural awareness, an instinct for emerging food trends and an ability to spot the next big thing before it becomes mainstream are also high on the wish list.

Experience or interest in food culture, content creation or brand building could give candidates an advantage. The company says the strongest applicants will bring a distinctive voice and genuine enthusiasm for the Dr. Bombay brand.

Snoop Dogg said the brand is already expanding its ice cream offering across markets and wants its flavours to work for consumers around the world. He added that the new taste tester would need to know their “flava” when they find it.

The hiring campaign also comes with a personal touch. Snoop Dogg’s team will participate in reviewing shortlisted candidates, while the rapper himself is expected to call the successful applicant to congratulate them.

Maya Warren, ice cream scientist at Dr. Bombay, said the brand needs a global tastemaker who can bring curiosity, refined taste buds and an appetite for influencing its future flavours.

The partnership reflects the increasingly global nature of remote hiring, with Deel offering Dr. Bombay access to candidates beyond the company’s traditional markets. The initial engagement will run for three months, although there is potential for future opportunities with Dr. Bombay’s marketing team.

The two companies also plan to create content around the successful applicant, giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at what it is like to hold one of the world’s more enviable jobs.

For anyone who believes tasting ice cream counts as serious work, this could be the sweetest job application of the year.
