MUMBAI: Freedom has more than one face, and Dangal TV’s leading ladies have plenty to say about it. As India marks its 80th year of Independence, actresses from the channel’s popular shows have come together to share their thoughts on what freedom means in a changing India from the right to dream and choose to the courage to speak up and be oneself.

The messages look beyond the familiar Independence Day tributes, connecting the idea of freedom with everyday choices, self-belief, equality, resilience and the ability to pursue one’s aspirations.

Tanishq Seth, who plays Radhya in Mann Ati Sundar, described independence as something that begins from within. For her, it means accepting oneself, moving beyond expectations and having the confidence to choose one’s own path.

Dhurti Mangeshkar, who plays Ruchita in Mann Sundar, linked freedom with the ability to dream, express oneself and make choices. She also highlighted the importance of women having the confidence to pursue their aspirations.

For Prapti Shukla, who plays Isha in Pati Brahmachari, the occasion is a reminder of the sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters. She said the freedoms to live, dream and express oneself came at a great cost and should not be taken for granted.

Anjali Sharma, who plays Ruhaani in Ishq Junooni, also reflected on the courage of those who fought for India’s freedom, while viewing independence through the lens of the ability to love, dream, make choices and build one’s own journey.

The focus shifts to India’s next generation with Yashika Sharma from Rimjhim, who said young Indians have an important role in shaping the country’s future. Her Independence Day wish centres on giving every young person the freedom, confidence and opportunity to realise their potential.

Girija Prabhu, who plays Tanvi in Tees Key Par, highlighted India’s journey through courage, resilience and diversity, while connecting those values with the stories and aspirations of Indian families portrayed on the channel.

The Independence Day initiative brings together voices from across Dangal TV’s fiction slate, with the channel using its characters and artistes to explore a broader idea of patriotism, one that includes both remembering the sacrifices that secured freedom and recognising the responsibilities that come with it.

As the celebrations continue across the channel’s shows, Dangal TV is positioning freedom to dream, express, choose and contribute as part of the evolving meaning of Independence Day for contemporary audiences.
