Cosco’s stock-in-trade division remained the main contributor to its quarterly performance. Revenue from the segment increased to Rs 33.16 crore from Rs 31.26 crore a year earlier.

The division reported a segment result of Rs 2.28 crore before interest and tax, with capital employed standing at Rs 62.23 crore.

The manufactured products division also recorded revenue growth, rising to Rs 21.80 crore from Rs 18.78 crore. However, the segment’s loss before interest and tax widened to Rs 19.36 lakh from Rs 12.20 lakh.

Total capital employed by the company stood at Rs 67.10 crore, after accounting for unallocated assets and liabilities of Rs 37.45 crore.

Total expenditure increased to Rs 54.17 crore from Rs 49.24 crore in Q1 FY26.

Purchases of stock in trade were the largest expense at Rs 24.10 crore, followed by material consumption at Rs 8.83 crore and employee benefits at Rs 6.40 crore. Other expenses stood at Rs 9.75 crore.

Finance costs, meanwhile, declined to Rs 1.06 crore from Rs 1.23 crore, while depreciation and amortisation stood at Rs 59.89 lakh.

Profit before tax rose to Rs 99.01 lakh. Total tax expense was Rs 29.06 lakh, comprising Rs 34.97 lakh in current tax and a deferred tax credit of Rs 5.91 lakh.

The results were approved by the board on August 14 under managing director and CEO Devinder Kumar Jain and carried an unqualified review report from Madan & Associates.

The company’s disclosures also highlighted several items undergoing reconciliation or management review.

GST input tax credit of Rs 1.24 crore is being reconciled with an electronic credit ledger balance of Rs 1.31 crore. Branch expenses of around Rs 34 lakh were certified by management pending final documentary support.

Cosco also disclosed contingent liabilities of Rs 1.78 crore relating to claims under litigation that have not been acknowledged as debts. A provision of Rs 1.07 crore for special discounts has been made based on management estimates, with a full reconciliation planned at year-end.

With revenue moving higher, profit gaining pace and finance costs easing, Cosco has opened FY27 with a modest but positive improvement in its core financial performance.
