MUMBAI: Indian cricket is getting a new name in the title frame, with Muthoot Fincorp reportedly set to become the BCCI’s next title sponsor for the country’s home matches. According to media reports, the financial services company is expected to take over the title sponsorship rights for international and domestic matches played in India for the next two years. The partnership is expected to kick off with India’s upcoming ODI series against the West Indies later this month and run until March 31, 2028.

The reported arrangement, being referred to as ‘Blue Muthoot’, has been negotiated at a base price of Rs 4.85 crore per match. However, neither the BCCI nor Muthoot Fincorp has formally announced the deal yet.

If finalised at the reported rate, the partnership would mark an increase over the outgoing title sponsorship arrangement with IDFC First Bank, which paid Rs 4.3 crore per match. That puts the reported Muthoot Fincorp rate Rs 55 lakh higher for every match.

The reports also suggest that the BCCI had explored a wider field of potential sponsors before zeroing in on Muthoot Fincorp. Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny and SBI Life were among the names reportedly involved in discussions.

The title sponsorship search comes as the BCCI builds out its commercial line-up for the 2026–28 home cricket cycle. The board has already locked in three associate partnerships, giving the sponsorship roster a fresh mix of consumer, financial and technology brands.

On September 8, the BCCI announced Campa, SBI Life and ChatGPT as associate partners for India’s home cricket for two seasons. Those partnerships are also set to begin with the West Indies series and continue through March 2028.

The three associate deals have a combined value of more than Rs 130 crore, according to the BCCI, representing a 44 per cent increase over the previous cycle. The board said the jump reflects the commercial value attached to India’s home cricket season.

BCCI President Mithun Manhas had described the partnerships as an endorsement of the reach and commercial appeal of Indian cricket, saying the increased combined value demonstrated the confidence of leading brands in the property.

With Muthoot Fincorp expected to occupy the title slot, the BCCI’s bilateral cricket sponsorship line-up for the home cycle would comprise the title sponsor alongside associate partners Campa, SBI Life and ChatGPT. For the board, the next two years could therefore see the Indian cricket jersey and match-day ecosystem carrying a noticeably fuller commercial scorecard.
