TORONTO: Anton Pirisi has just landed one of the most enviable jobs in the creator economy, head of TikTok at MrBeast, the operation behind the single biggest content creator on the planet. It is the sort of appointment that makes sense the moment you glance at the résumé behind it, a career built entirely on making brands behave like characters rather than logos.

Pirisi’s most recent stop, at VaynerMedia, reads like a masterclass in unconventional brand storytelling. Working on Brisk Iced Tea, Mountain Dew and Flamin’ Hot, Pirisi engineered a viral social strategy for Brisk using music, memes and comedy that got the internet genuinely obsessing over iced tea, no small feat for a beverage category not exactly known for cultural relevance. Even more striking was the invention of “the Brisk Man,” an original character that pulled in tens of thousands of followers within two months and drew 500 people to an in-character meet and greet in real life. Turning a soft drink into a character fans want to meet in person is precisely the kind of instinct that short-form platforms reward and traditional advertising rarely achieves.

Then there is the PepsiCo album, which deserves its own paragraph. Pirisi wrote, produced and executive produced PepsiCo’s first ever album, a project that generated over 30 million views and spawned an actual charting song. Brands dabbling in music is nothing new, but getting a genuine chart entry out of a soft drink company’s music project is a different order of achievement, and it signals exactly the kind of format-bending, platform-native thinking that MrBeast’s operation is built on.

This is why the MrBeast hire tracks so cleanly. MrBeast’s entire business model rests on treating content as a production discipline in its own right, with format innovation and algorithmic fluency as core skills rather than afterthoughts, and Pirisi arrives having spent years fusing copywriting, graphic design, videography and tools like Unreal Engine into exactly that kind of practice for Gen Z audiences. Having navigated TikTok and Instagram since before either platform went mainstream, Pirisi brings a rare native fluency in where short-form trends are heading rather than where they have already been. For an operation that lives and dies by staying ahead of the algorithm, that is precisely the edge worth hiring for.
