Anthropic appoints Rajat Pandit to lead Applied AI for India
Former Google Cloud executive joins Anthropic after nearly eight years at the company
MUMBAI: Rajat Pandit is giving his AI career a new cloud nine. Pandit has joined Anthropic to lead Applied AI for India, moving to the AI company after nearly eight years at Google Cloud.
Announcing the move, Pandit said the new role would allow him to bring his experience in scaling cloud and AI infrastructure to the question of how the technology can be applied across enterprises and institutions in India.
Pandit said he sees the opportunity as a chance to help shape the role AI plays in Indian businesses and institutions, with the impact potentially extending beyond the country.
The appointment comes after Pandit’s departure from Google Cloud, where he spent close to eight years. Reflecting on his tenure, he said he joined the company with an engineering and consulting background but learnt the nuances of technical sales through working alongside teams across product, engineering and sales.
Rather than learning the discipline from a textbook, Pandit said his experience came from being involved in conversations and projects with some of the industry’s leading professionals.
He also credited mentors, colleagues, partners and customers with shaping his journey at Google Cloud, saying the combination of technical and commercial exposure continues to influence how he approaches technology.
At Anthropic, that experience will now be directed towards applied AI in India, as the company looks to build its presence around how AI can be deployed across businesses and institutions.
For Pandit, the move marks a shift from helping build and sell cloud infrastructure to focusing more directly on how AI can translate into practical applications — putting his nearly eight years of cloud experience into a new AI chapter.
