BENGALURU: Internal promotions rarely make for dramatic reading, but they say something useful about retention in an industry that churns talent every eighteen months. Anisha Dores has just been elevated to AVP, client services at WPP Media, a step up that comes after four years and nine months spent building the group’s digital practice from within, first as group head, digital, based out of Bengaluru.

That tenure alone marks her out. Client services and digital media are notoriously high-churn functions, and staying put for close to five years while being promoted rather than poached says as much about WPP Media’s internal mobility as it does about Dores’s own delivery record. Her profile description leans into exactly that theme, over a decade spent driving sustained results and change across sectors as varied as enterprise software, advertising, e-commerce and beauty, the kind of range that tends to produce generalists who are actually rather good at everything.

The road to WPP Media runs through a genuinely eclectic set of stops. Dores spent close to four years at Edelman as manager, creative co-ordination, sandwiched between shorter stints in marketing and business development at The Cube Club and digital marketing at Pahadi Local, before landing at WPP Media in December 2021. Earlier still, she cut her teeth at Klub1, IOTAP India, Thacker & Company and Packt Publishing, roles that collectively cover SEO, email marketing, paid search, website management and direct marketing design, essentially the full stack of digital marketing craft assembled brick by brick well before large-agency life began.

That breadth is precisely what a client services leadership role demands, someone who has actually built the campaigns being sold rather than simply managed the relationship around them. Four years and nine months in, WPP Media has clearly decided that Dores’s grounding across the full marketing funnel is worth backing with a bigger title.
