Anand Tomar joins Theobroma as chief technology officer
Seasoned IT leader from McDonald’s and Allied Blenders & Distillers takes charge of technology as the bakery brand scales
MUMBAI: A brand with a loyal following, strong momentum and a new man to run its technology. Anand Tomar has joined Theobroma as chief technology officer, and the bakery’s next stage of growth now has a proper engine room.
Tomar is a strategic IT professional who leads complex projects and manages cross-functional resources to optimise enterprise IT projects, operations, information security and procurement. He is committed to quality and teamwork, able to align rapidly with mission-critical initiatives and deploy cost-effective methods to consistently exceed expectations. He is also known for well-developed interpersonal skills, which help him collaborate effectively with both business and IT teams to deliver every project in the portfolio on time, within budget and in line with strategic and business requirements.
His specialities read like the checklist of a modern technology chief: IT project management, SAP, process optimisation, team management, vendor management, budgeting, procurement, virtualisation, cloud, PCI DSS, privacy and information security.
Tomar has expressed his gratitude to Rajiv Batra and Rishi Gour for the opportunity and for their confidence in him. He describes Theobroma as a brand with a loyal following and strong momentum, and says he looks forward to strengthening its technology foundation as it scales and continues to delight customers. He adds that he is excited to work with a talented team and to begin this new chapter.
The timing is neat. Consumer brands that grow quickly soon discover that stores, supply chains, payments and customer data all run on technology, and that a wobble in any of them is felt at the counter. A leader who has spent years keeping large, busy consumer businesses running, while guarding data and holding budgets, is the sort of appointment a fast-growing brand needs. At Theobroma, Tomar’s brief is to build the foundation that lets the company grow without losing the customer’s affection.
