Amit Chandra joins iTV Network as chief technology officer
Broadcast veteran with 19 years in the trenches steps up to lead engineering strategy at the news network
NOIDA: Amit Chandra has swapped one technology hot seat for another, joining iTV Network as chief technology officer, bringing with him nearly two decades of hard-won expertise in broadcast engineering and IT infrastructure.
Chandra’s career reads like a tour of India’s broadcast backbone. Before this appointment, he spent six months as chief technology officer at Sapphire Media Limited in Noida, steering the company’s tech roadmap and overseeing scalable, secure systems. Prior to that, he freelanced as project lead on a defence ministry project in Abu Dhabi, single handedly commissioning AVID media asset management systems, network infrastructure, edit suites and tape libraries for the UAE government, a stint that ran a full year.
His broadcast credentials go back further still. Chandra served as general manager for IT and broadcast at Republic World for two years, and before that spent nearly eight years at Planetcast Media Services in various roles, rising from assistant manager to broadcast manager. There, he led marquee projects including a cloud based playout system spanning thirty two channels, and migration work for Viacom and National Geographic Channel, shifting their playout operations from Mumbai and Hong Kong respectively into Essel Shyam’s facilities.
Earlier in his career, Chandra spent nine months at Infinity Media Networks in South Africa, where he helped install automation and camera systems for news channel ANN7, and even covered the historic Nelson Mandela funeral broadcast from FNB Stadium. He cut his teeth at Network18 Media and Investments, spending over five years as senior engineer IT with one of India’s largest media conglomerates.
With over 19 years of hands on experience spanning automation systems, networking, cloud playout and large scale broadcast installations, Chandra brings a rare blend of technical depth and project leadership to iTV Network as it looks to strengthen its technology backbone.
