HAMBURG: Amagi has appointed Martin Wacker as head of sales for DACH and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), strengthening its leadership team as broadcasters across the region accelerate the shift towards cloud-based broadcasting and streaming.

Based in Hamburg, Wacker will lead Amagi’s growth strategy across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the wider CEE region. The appointment forms part of the company’s broader European expansion as media companies increasingly adopt IP-based distribution, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) and AI-powered media workflows.

Germany remains one of Europe’s largest television advertising markets and its biggest media economy by population, making it a key market for cloud-native broadcast technology providers.

Wacker joins Amagi with more than two decades of experience in the media, broadcast and digital technology sectors. He has previously held senior positions at German broadcasters RTL and Kabel1, alongside leadership roles across film production, post-production, advertising and marketing technology businesses. He has also founded three companies and helped launch two start-ups into the European market.

According to Amagi, senior vice-president, sales EMEA, Emma Whitmore, Germany is a strategically important market because of its leadership in European broadcasting and growing adoption of cloud-native and FAST technologies. She said Wacker’s industry experience and relationships across the German media sector would support the company’s next phase of regional growth.

In his new role, Wacker will work with broadcasters, OTT platforms and content owners to modernise broadcast operations, expand content distribution and develop new monetisation opportunities across connected TV platforms.

According to Martin Wacker, the region’s media landscape is evolving rapidly as broadcasters adopt FAST channels, cloud-native playout and AI-driven content workflows. He said the company is well positioned to help partners scale their operations while accelerating innovation.

The appointment reflects Amagi’s continued investment in Europe, where it is expanding its presence to support broadcasters and streaming platforms moving away from legacy infrastructure towards cloud-native broadcast ecosystems.
